The Fowler arrived in steam and the low loader it was on was
hauled by a huge John Deere tractor. I bet it was fun being
stuck behind him on the roads. ;-)

Great photos. Is this type of thing regular? Obviously I know
this particular event can only happen once, but do they
regularly have events like this?

They have a steam gala every year, which features the "all lines
tour". The "tour" isn't what it used to be though. One branch
has been lifted (it used to run into a working scrapyard) and
the other has been sanitised by developers. There used to be old
factories that really looked the part with the steam locos but
they were knocked down to make way for yet another fucking
retail outlet.

I got to ride on the footplate of one the engines when I last
visited there late last year. It doesn't half get warm in those
closed cabs. :o
