The drive gear on the cam is standard, the difference is in the
oil pump drive on the bottom of the dizzy, early ones have a
male drive later a female. THe later electronic dizzy has a
female drive for the oil pump gears. If you're fitting a
standard 35D dizzy from the good Mr parksy, then the standard
oil pump gears will work.
Just be aware that the oil pump drive (slot or peg) and the slot
/ peg on the bottom of the dizzy need to match up.
I'm not sure what year the bigger oil pump gears came in, I know
of at least 3 different types of timing chest for the 3.5 V8

I think they changed some time post '78 as all the 101s have the
male slot on the disi to drive the pump.

Checked the timing chest which I've stripped from this engine
and it does, indeed, have a male drive on the oil pump...which
is where we need to be with the dizzy from Parksy.
I'll have a look at the one from AQ's current engine, but will
likely as not just plough-on and keep the current. The scoring
on the inside of the water-pump chamber isn't obstructive and
won't foul the pump, so no hassle.
This way, there's minimum swap-around and we know it'll work.

The disi is now boxed up with a couple of other V8 bits. Will be
winging your way in the next couple of days

A few comparisons confirmed to me what a good decision it was to
replace the timing chain and cam sprocket. There's a stretch of
about 5mm when comparing the old chain against the new and some
vernier caliper gauging of the valleys in the nylon ring of the
sprocket shows a pretty consistent difference of @ 2mm in
comparison. So I don't anticipate the same degree of slack when
I assemble these components.
I'm aching to get re-building this engine 8)
Going to have to finish the Fergie first :(
