I'll move this into Anoraks then you can keep it as a thread for
your aircraft modelling, if you like?
I used to have loads when I was a kid. I hung them all from my
bedroom celing but, one day, I threw them all out of the window.
I've regretted that ever since.
I briefly tried to get back into aircraft modelling about 10
years ago when I bought a kit for a Sopwith Pup but to this day
it remains unbuilt.

Well, another one done. It's the old Italeri kit with a
different scheme to the kit. Paints are all the usual but
another first for me. To get the sploged effect I first painted
the topsides overall RLM 02 then used Blu-Tac rolled into small
balls stuck all over, then I did the two colour standard
camouflage . When it all dried I pulled off the Blu-tac. Once
the decals were finished I matted it all down with Humbrol matt
coat before an overall spray of dirty varnish to weather and
blend it all together.I did add some internal framing to the
canopy and cockpit area just to make it look safer if the thing
flipped over on landing!

These are my latest builds all of which are the Airfix Spitfire
PRXIX and all represent PS890 during the latest 3 stages of her
life. The yellow one is her under refurbishment at Chino Planes
of Fame after her recovery from Thailand. The blue one is how
she was painted for her attempt on the speed to hight record
attempt in 2005, the brown one is how she looks now. All use
Barracuda exhausts, two use Barracuda clipped Seafire 46/47
props, one uses the Barracuda seamless intake and one uses a mix
of Barracuda and custom decals. None are 100% accurate, I give
not one jot about this.

Hi,
I have long fancied making a model of the Gloster Gladiator, and
I see there is now a reasonable sized RC model on the market at
£120-ish.
I fancy the challenge of making the first model of something
I've actually flown in ... Tiger Moth, Puss Moth, Proctor,
Anson, Oxford, Viking, Comet, Britannia, Friendship, 737 ....
got it ... I flew from Sharjah to Bahrein in a Beverely in 1960.
Doh, it's already been done. (so has a Bristol Boxcar). But
yeah! Maybe a 2ft wingspan model of a Beverley with a motor
cycle battery in the hold. Or maybe refresh my memories of the
Puss Moth.
But knowing my skills, maybe I should watch again the film
"Flight of the Pheonix". rofl
