Quite fancy fitting a military roll bar onto the Beast so I can
make/purchase a bikini top for the summer. Love driving the old
girl around topless (her not me) but get chuffed off refitting
the truck cab... local to Kent would be good...

disco wheels :loser: but hey she still makes me smile

fitting a TDI into a Hotrod.. if you say it shouldn't be done I
guess I'm the one who will go ahead and do it.... still would
like some info on those roll bars though :-* :-*

Got mine off ebay a few years ago, they pop up occasionally, but
usually they've been butchered in some way.

Expensive, but this
is an alternative to the ebay rare genuine Land Rover item. I
think PJ of this parish has one fitted to his 109.
I fitted a pukka one to my 109 a couple of years ago; in fact
there are still a couple of bits outstanding still to do (the
knuckle brackets that the bar slots into). It was fairly
straightforward - all I had to do was cut out the capping with a
holesaw where the bar drops in, however that was on a 109. An
88 is significantly different behind the seats and you may find
you have to do some fettling to get those bottom brackets in.

Doug is right I do have one fitted to my 109. Drilled out the
top of the cappings with a hole cutter, rivited the base mounts
into the tub and then bolted the bar in. Nice and Simple. I have
some brackets (somewhere) that will go from the chassis up to
the underside of the tub underneath the roll bar and will bolt
up make it even more solid. It wont do much in a high speed
crash, but at a low speed off road accident it will be fine.
Well worth it, and the insurance like it on my rag top.
Can get photos and pics if needed?

don't all wheel trim sell new ones? You'll be able to get your
moob top there too.
