Hydrogen injection or not?

Today i went to look at at a car transporter trailer. The fella
was a old school mechanic and we had a good chat and showed me
all his toys. He then started about how he fits all his motors
with a hydrogen production system which improves fuel
consumption and power.
He made this out of a coffe jar with two stainless steel
electrodes submeresed in bi- carb solution each electrode to
oposing charge. Anyones else heard of this and if it really
works?

Heard of it, heard it's bollocks - if it made such a huge
difference car manufacturers would be doing it already.

I've heard of them/read about them. I think they need to be
pretty big to make any difference and if they worked well,
wouldn't manufacturers fit them? The theory is good I think, but
it's not practical to fit a system that produces enough gas. I
think you can buy kits for it, but the ones I've seen are a bit
rough looking.

its a simple answer really. No!.
Remember Energy cannot be created or destroyed -only converted
between different types i.e chemical to electrical to heat etc.
in order to release the hho (its not pure hydrogen) from the
cell you need to add electrical energy - from the battery which
puts a load on the engine. as the energy in inefficent and
produces heat as a waste bi product you will loose energy to the
surroundings.
As Over-unity (Getting more energy out of a system then that you
put in) is impossible then making massive improvements to
economy is a myth. - however there is a little logic in that the
hydrogen mix will produce a better burn from your fuel, however
I don't think thats balanced with the risk of pumping bi-carb
and electrolyte sludge into the fuel intake and it certainly
woun't make a massive difference.
Now if you were to create a safe at home micro generation system
to produce and bottle hydrogen (not HHO as it is very unstable,
good fun though!) from a renewable energy source like a wind
turbine etc, bottle it then inject it into you energy as a
supplement fuel your onto a winner :thumbs:
The law of conservation of energy cannot be broken!

It's storing the stuff that's the headache, it doesn't like to
be a liquid so you can't easily liquidise it and bottle it like
you can with other gasses (LPG for example).
Unfortunately this system is up there with all the other magical
fuel saving tat on ebay. You'd be better off with the magnets
that strap to your fuel lines. They won't help your fuel economy
in anyway whatsoever, but at least you'll have a couple of
magnets to fish tools out of awkward places...
