Chuffing 'eck
DIR By: Ash

Just fixed one problem (sort of) now I have two fucking more
:banghead
Hoping some rad weld type of stuff will cure the leaking
radiator it had lost a kettle full over the week but hadn't
noticed with all the rain we've had.
The more serious one is the leaking injector ,one nearest the
rad. It's been chuffing a little while but I didn't know what it
was till I seen it this afternoon. I tried to take it out but it
seemed to be stuck then I noticed some hard black gunk stuff,
looked like a repair type of shit by the previous owner,so I
just put it back together awaiting advice ;D. Now it leaking as
well as chuffing :(
Any suggestions will be grately received.
Cheers
Andy

40 quid will see you a new radiator and its an easy job. Once
you start radwelding it never stops

Chuffing and Hard black gunk stuff is almost certainly the
congealed combustion gases wot is leaking past the sealing
washer.
Chip/clean enough of the gunk off to clear round the injector so
when injector comes out no gunk goes into cylinder
Take the injector out, grab washer, and clean all up.
New sealing washer.
Check and double check injector clamp bolt/nut torque (think nut
on lr engines)
Good to carefully tap injector onto seat to help seal.
Don‘t ask why I emphaise injector clamp torque: 8 &1/2 fucking
hours repair on a sprinter engine cos someone didn‘t want to get
a new clamp bolt for £1.42 :banghead :banghead
HTH

Pray, do tell where from...
Andy, if your injector is leaking as well as chuffing you might
now be able to get it out (what with it being properly diesel
soaked by now) otherwise you can try such delights as removing
the studs and gently levering it out, or loosening the nuts
holding it in place (but not removing) and firing it up to see
if that blasts it free - which sometimes works but be careful.
When it does come free, check that there is just the one tip
sealing washer present - I have seen one where someone's left
the original washer in there and just put a new one in on top,
which doesn't do the whole "sealing" thing a lot of good.
