Put meet near Evesham
By: tomster_1 Date: May 29, 2012, 2:21 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Hi all,
I am arranging a pub meet near to Evesham, Worcestershire.
I advertised it locally, and had 16 vehicles turn up. Now I am
advertising it on here to try and get a bit more interest. It
will be held at the fish and anchor pub, Offenham, WR118QW.
The date will be Wednesday 27th June, and you can arrive any
time after 7pm.
Furthermore, yes, there will be boingys. The meet is open to
anyone in any land rover vehicle who has made the effort to
come. For that reason, if you find modern boingys intolerable,
then its probably not the meet for you. At last count, we had 2
series ones, 5 series 2s, and 2 series 3s to the last meet.
Those of you good at maths will read that as there being 7
boingys, and yes, you would be correct! Its just a chance for
local people to get to know others and have a nice drink at a
quiet pub with lots of parking. I dont mind what people drive,
and even less what they arrive in, as long as they made the
effort to turn up.
I now plan on attaching images, so if boingys offend your eyes,
cover them....

Im curious as to why this is deemed to be suitable for the bin?
Perhaps you'd care to explain redwinch?
All im posting for is to put out the word that this event is
going on. There may be members locally who wish to be involved
in this kind of activity, regardless of the vehicles that
attend. It seems a dire shame that due to your (and perhaps
Stuey's) personal preferences, this post may be deemed rubbish
and put in the epic fail bin.
Its fairly simple, you dont like boingys, then dont turn up.
Every person of the 20+ who arrived to the last meet was
pleasantly surprised by the turnout, and also the variety of
vehicles that bothered to come. Not one said to me, "oh fuck me,
a boingy - im going", not one of them had a problem with it.
It would be really lovely if Land Rover still built the same
vehicles that they did 50 years ago, but the simple fact is that
they don't. I dont see any reason why newer models should be
banned from parking near older ones. I may well be branded as a
'gayer' or a 'bender' for saying this, but if that is the case
and that certain small minded individuals have a problem with my
personal opinion, then that's fine.
I wouldnt mind too much if I was an owner of said boingy with
raised suspension, bright pink axles, a humungous air intake,
and more chequer plate than you can shake a stick at, but im
not. I happen to be a perfectly happy owner of a 1960 series 2,
with no modifications at all. Lets be honest here as well, its
not like either of the 2 posts so far are from people who would
even consider making the trip to the meet so it seems somewhat
unreasonable for them to post simply to mock my idea.
All I want is to arrange a local meet for local like minded
enthusiasts of the marque, if anyone has an issue with that,
then please feel free to keep it to yourself and not bother
posting, as frankly, I couldnt give a shit.

Chill out, pal FFS. You invite whatever and whoever you want to
your pub meet but if you post pics of coilers here then you're
going to get some banter. If you don't like it then, to use your
own phrase, I couldn't give a shit.

Could someone tidy away the toys around the pram in aisle 2
please...
