I love the old fashioned sound of my 2.25 petrol, especially
echoing off walls from the exhaust as I drive by ;D ;D Makes a
proper old petrol smell too, like back in the good old days.
To be fair it isn't a slow motor. Can cruise at 60 pretty easily
and get 0-40 in about 6 seconds. Doesn't do so well on minor
inclines though :( Love seeing other leafers on the road and
mincing past them in the fast lane. 8) 8)
Only do a few thousand miles a year so fuel cost isn't a major
problem.
Considered a 200 TurDI, but would prob whack a V8 in if I could
be fagged. But I think I'd miss the character of the proper
lump.

If I could afford the fuel cost I would love to stick with a
2.25, when set up right and tweaked a little, they're really
lovely to drive on 7.50s and standard gearing, zooming around at
B road speeds with a huge grin all over your face. I'm way too
impatient (and tight) to Euroleaf in one though, unless it was a
seriously leisurely station wagon trip with at least 4 wallets
being put to the fuel bill! :)

Well today I stumbled into the realms of Lightweight Natshire
and bought myself a 200Tdi so I can say the 101 has a 200Tdi
even if its not fitted.
My old series 2a also had a 200Tdi in it.

2.25d for me, and i reccon its a good lump.
No body has mentioned a tdi with out the 't'. that I think would
be a perfect engine for a series.

i have the 2.25 petrol with lpg but its set up with a happy
medium between lpg and petrol so slightly lacks in both power
wise but it works for me.

200Tdi on my 2a , but if it ever dumped its guts in an expensive
way then I probably would put the 2.25 back in as my 2a is now
used as a second vehicle.

2.25 petrol with LPG, somewhere between 10 and 15k miles a year
at the moment
Having said that it hasnt moved in 3 weeks while ive been using
a car and the LR needs some repairs - thinking about removing
the LPG at the moment, but sure that will change when I fix it
and drive it

200tdi in the 88 and a 3.9V8 in the 101.
Neither are the original but the tdi replaced a transit Di lump.
