Brake spanner size

Actually I think I'm the spanner here.
Managed to shear off the bleed nipple on the rear brakes so
trying to remove the brake pipes to get the cyclinder out.
But the fittings are somewhere between 9 and 10 mm, and 3/8" -
7/16". I guess they are all AF measurements.
Anyone know what to try, some Whit sizing from the Middle Ages?
Should it help, I think they are SIII 109 brakes, single
caliper.

Yeah, I think you need a proper brake pipe spanner - they are
open ended to clear the pipe, but also fit all around the nut -
which as you know can shear off.....

I've got the imperial flare spanner that worked for the front
but the rear fittings fall between the sizes. ??? Same story
for the flats. I can see myself nadgering pipework all the way
back to the four way.

They shouldn't be BSF/BSW - 7/16" AF should do it, or perhaps
10mm if summat more modern has crept on there. When brake pipes
etc get old I find it less traumatic to replace the pipes as
well, they're cheap and personally I prefer copper with brass
unions from a corrosion perspective. The rear axle is simple,
cut the pipe at the junction piece and get a single hex socket
over the union on the rear axle (on the the brass 3 way thing)
and that'll come undone easily.
If you don't have the proper spanner I'd suggest you get one,
you need more than two flats purchase unless things have been
apart recently.

Socket hadnt occured to me. And I'm more than happy to get new
pipes on. I use Phil Tuck on eBay (philip_tuck14nb4) to get make
them up.
