Headlamp Flasher

The only modern-ish thingy I miss when I'm driving my S2, is a
headlamp flasher. Not interested in other modern trappings like
hazard warning, seatbelts, door locks, interior light etc, etc.
The simple austere brutality of the interior is what I love.
But not being able to be a courteous driver to other leafers,
and let them out at busy junctions, or give 'em a flash to go
with the wave is a pain.
Shouldn't be too difficult to fit something that looks in
keeping should it? Just a spring Loaded off button wired into
the headlight circuit with a relay I reckon.
Anybody on here done it?

I've not done it yet, but the circuit is very simple!
You don't even need a relay, as long as the switch/push button
can carry the current for the mainbeam, then it's just a case of
taking a feed to the switch and to the main beam circuit!
As I am a bit of a tart when it comes to wiring, I will use a
relay, as the lights will be on relays anyway!

The only problem with that is that it latches, so you would have
to press it twice to achieve a flash!

Yeah - I've got a floor mounted dip switch. It's a headlamp
flasher I need, cos by the time I've switched on the lights,
used the dip switch to flash, then switched the lights off, I'm
not looking where I'm going...

And with that note, take the motor for what it is and that it
doesn't have a headlamp flasher, and come up with a compromise.
Double tap the headlight flasher at night, or a quick switch of
the headlights during the day. Just make sure you don't catch
the keys if you have a key through the lightswitch version!

Give up flashing out other drivers at busy junctions,not very
courteous to those behind you who have to slow down while you
let people out.

I just flick the headlight switch on and off quickly... never
gives me any trouble.
Maybe it's more of a pain on pre "black dash" motors, with the
twist switch built into the key...
