V8 to 300tdi

Well the V8 is out and everything is on ebay so I have
provisionally bought a 300tdi which shall slot into the series 1
very nicely....so far I have a hole.....

That is all. Hopefully I should pick up the tdi next week and

Should turn out ok, just need to think about wht you will do
with the power teetering pump.......

I'm gonna keep the reservoir and leave fluid in it or remove it
completely and use a shorter belt.....I think!

When i put a 300tdi into my series 2 i just removed the power
steering pump and got a shorter belt ill have a dig about to see
if i can find the info on the belt for you. It will be
interesting to see how you get round the oil filter / engine
mtg problem

Be awesome if you could find the belt info :thumbs:As for the
mounts i'm gonna cut off the standard mounts and weld on new
mounts to fit the 300 tdi standard mounts no filter problem then
:thumbs:

Well I did something tonight, cut off the old engine mounts and
found some pretty horrendous welding on one mount....in fact it
was only just held together....scary stuff! Also found a crack
in my bellhousing where the slave cylinder bolts onto, unsure
wether I should change it or not, drilled a small hole either
end of the crack so at least it doesn't spread....can't do
anymore without an engine which i'm itching to get! still heres
some scary pictures....if you can't weld then fucking dont.end.

looking at length and position of that crack i'd be looking at
either welding it up or getting a replacement bellhousing asap

Well I now have a 300tdi sitting in my garage :giddy:I have also
changed the bellhousing. It was harder than I thought didnt
realise the bellhousing housed the bearings, used to ford
gearboxes where the bellhousings are totally seperate, still its
done so next ive got to mod the 300tdi flywheel housing and drop
it in and sort some mounts out :thumbs:
