My old matrix looked fine only when I blew through it was it
clear that it had a very restricted flow. Pack a lot of Dumdum
around the edges to make sure the air flows through the matrix
instead of round the sides.

I agree with Calum too. The heater in my 3a is excellent! It is
a truck cab so may be slightly more noticeable than a full roof
but it can get too hot in there!

I have a standard Series III heater in my Series III Truck-Cab.
It can also get too hot and I find myself openning a window
sometimes...

As my blower motor is getting old/noisy is it possible to know
where your motor came from "Bert" (if it is too bad to print
please pm it to me)

It is far too bad to print but who gives a shit? It was from a
circa 1994/5 Suzuki Vitara that I was given. ( In my defence I
immediately did the decent thing and dismantled it into it's
constituent parts.) The motor has several speeds, much greater
power, and a much larger fan (hamster wheel). The only downside
is that it runs in the reverse direction. Changing polarity
reverses the motor but the fan is more problematic in that it
fits on the shaft one way only. To overcome this (without
changing the polarity of the motor) I turned the snail through
180 deg so that the outlet was at the top rather than the
bottom. This puts the original opening for the air intake from
the wing on the side where the motor has to go. It was far too
small so I opened it up with a nibbler. I then glued the fan
mounting in with a generous load of RTV silicone-this last was
supposed to be a temporary fix to see if the new setup would
work, be worthwhile, etc, it did, it is, and has remained to
this day. I don't doubt there are many other motor and fan
combos that could be adapted in similar fashion. I simply used
that which I had to hand.
