Well she is now all official... :)
Sailed through the MOT today and insured. Now has 55 miles under
her new belt...
Not without hiccup, I should hasten to add... Coming home from
the MOT it seemed to be struggling with some of the hills.
Popping out a bit later saw any throttle movement disappear
altogether a mile from home.. Pedal shaft linkage had come
loose...
A few bits to sort out tomorrow and a years rent to be purchased
and she should be out for her first proper days work Saturday...

PS have to agree about the mirrors...They are hopeless... I am
thinking about upgrading to the 7"x5" type... A windowless tilt
does not help either...

Glad you got an MoT and are actually driving her, I wait for
the day when the 109 will be back on the road - really need to
take some pictures and update the members motor thread.

its always a good feeling when you get a ticket straight off,
but its a land rover and will all-ways have niggles as they love
seeking attention.

Now that has got me motivated to get mine done ;D cant wait
till she's on the road.
Hope she was good at work on Saturday for you, certainly will
look the part on the shoot.

Used her for shooting yesterday, I was not shooting, supposed to
be picking up with the dog but ended up in the beating line so
the Land Rover got plenty of use...
Amazing the looks and comments it got, especially as many on the
shoot have new Discoverys and Defenders... Every kid wanted to
sit in the back between drives much to the annoyance of the
dog...
It performed faultlessly on the journey there and back... It was
good fun on the motorway and held 60MPH no problem at all...
Even on the hills it pulled well...
In my mind it still needs a few things doing... Timing, I did
not get round to checking the timing and feel it is holding back
a bit.. Carb, I am really not happy with the Weber carb.. It
feels like its icing up, first thing, and the fuel is
evaporating when parked up for a long time, after the engines
hot... I also hate the poxy adapter ring method for the air
hose, which keeps falling off.. I have a Zenith in the garage
which I am going to rebuild over the next few weeks and fit...
She also has a leak on the exhaust manifold gasket, more likely
it does not have a gasket judging by the amount of silicon
sealer hanging off underneath the manifold.. I can live with
this until the end of Jan (End of shooting season) and will
replace, if it gets worse or as soon as the weather warms up...
Final silly things needed are, rear step as it seemed to be pain
in the arse for people getting into yesterday especially some of
the more vertically challenged... Also the spare tyre in the
rear load area is a pain, the restraining bolt seems to be at
the right height for a 205 and useless for a 750... I have a
bonnet with the spare wheel mounting to be finished and painted
in the garage and hopefully enough paint left, so another job
for the spring...
Those silly little mirrors are going, a pair of 7x5 ordered for
tomorrow from local Bearmach place...
Just need to hope the novelty of it wears off soon as I am
consuming the 4000 miles of my agreed value insurance rapidly..
Off to clean it now for the insurance photgraphs followed by
another blat around the country lanes...
Pictures below have been censored, with the very minimum of
boingy or Gaylander content... For some unknown reason
everywhere I parked the Series, for pictures, one or the other
had to get up close and personal :o

Excellent. Lots of nice fresh air coming in the back. I take
mine shooting too and the first day my mate insisted on driving
it everywhere. I has to wrestle it back off it at the end of the
day.
Have you scratched that new paint job yet?

Not sure if its scratched yet... I'll know when I have cleaned
it...
At the end of the day I built it to be my working vehicle so its
inevitable...
With the hood rolled up I was still warm driving it... The
heater works well, had gloves at the ready when I first set out
but never needed them... In fact had to turn the heater off at
one point, driving home...

Long time since last updated this thread...
Latest picture, now sporting a bonnet mounted spare. Still
awaiting me to rebuild the other engine currently stripped down
in the garage. Current engine likes to leave large puddles of
its DNA after a run.
Bought a pair of 3.54 diffs from John Eastwood the other week.
Fitted the rear on Friday as a trial and its transformed it for
me.. 60mph on the M20 without my ears bleeding. Apart from the
speedo needing re-calibrating I have found no other downsides
even with a 2.25 engine nearing the end of its current life..
Will fit the front diff next week at some point and start on the
other engine rebuild and fit a SimonBBC kit..

nice looking car, Where did you get your canvas from? I have
just got mine fitted and the back just about reaches the tail
gate, Mine is from Exmoor trim.
