How long for this one?

My commute is pleasantly rural, for a short stretch I travel on
one of Britains most well known road, the Cat and Fiddle.
It was a lovely sunny run home last evening but as I was about
to turn onto the C & F I observed a huge blue cloud approaching
with something resembling a Land Rover in the midst of it. The
vehicle passed the road end on port tack but then came about to
starboard for the next bend. After managing to overtake and
obscure a young scooterist appropriately clad in a Cheshire
Demolition overvest the blue cloud increased in density
continued on its course. Now quite how much fuel you have to put
into a Tdi to create that much smoke I'm not sure, but if was
fuel smoke then it is overfuelling to excess and if it isn't
fuel and its oil then this one isn't long for the road. I think
you should get it sorted John 'coz it doesn't do much for the
public perception of quaint historic Land Rovers.

The way he's going through engines and gearboxes, there is going

I'd be embarassed and get the bus rofl
Point well made by Allan - very easy for the anti brigade to get
on us when you see things like that and frankly I wouldn't want
to be cycling and be passed by it.

To be fair this is nothing new. When we parted direction in the
Lakes last year he nailed it out of a junction left as when I
was about to turn right and the side exit exhaust gave the
pavement dwellers present a black stripe at about knee level
for about 100ft followed by much waving and gnashing of teeth.
Being in a V8 boingy at the time I did the decent thing and
pointed said Elton mobile in the other direction and gave it the
berries quickly away!

It's something that's bound to happen when you feed shit like
sump oil and veg oil into an engine, mess about with the
fuelling and then thrash it mercilessly.

And the tree-huggers and, well almost anyone. :confused: I'd be
embarassed too but then my Tdi passed the smoke test on the MOT
man's machine as if the engine was being tested as the year of
motor that the engine came out of so I've nowt to fear.

my tuned TDi passes with better values than a 70k Tdi thats
never been thrashed, has a cat and EGR :thumbs:

EGRs really don't do good things for an engine's long-term
health.
Seriously chronic build-up of oily mud, thanks to what is
nothing more than a green-lobby placebo.

You may have the EGR fitted but unless you have the electronic
bullsh*t to go with it it wont do nothing. Take it off blank it
off and it will save you having to clean your inlet manifold
when it gets full of carbon !!!! As for the cat take it off
weigh it in and have a couple off pints with the proceeds ;D

I don't think it's that Resurrection has an EGR on his, Paul.
More a case of him comparing his tuned weapon with one which has
and, by theoretical default, better emissions.
But electrical gubbins aside, I've taken these off boingers with
them fitted, replacing with a Terrafirma kit from Allmakes. The
shit which was in the manifold...you could tar roads with it.
They just aren't good partners for long-term engine health.
