Sentinels are 8) Was this one converted to pneumatic tyres by
Sentinel themselves?

Christ on a bike!! What would that thing be like to steer?.A
modern eight wheel tipper is a pig to drive and that has power
steering. That must take two to get it round corners thats if it
does turn.

last week they came and tested the boiler - took it up to 400psi
- no problems - it blows off at 240psi - passed
it will be a 8 wheeler tipper when finished
yes it has no power steering and will be numb to say the least
it is now getting the boiler lagged with more modern materials -
it was lagged with asbestos when new - times have moved on a bit
!!
more updates when i get round to it :giddy:

Fantastic!
Love the hub caps.
I remember one of these coming to the quarry when I was very
young and the driver stood up to steer round the corners! I
think thats when my truck spotting days started. Well we didnt
have TV then and there wasnt much else exciting to do!

Great news on the boiler, PPP 8)
In no way connected to your intended 8-wheel tipper intentions;
there's a pretty sad old picture of a derelict Sentinel which
was once a tar-spreader, in the current Old Glory.
Due to the scanning or the actual original take of the picture,
it's difficult to make out proper, but it vaguely looks like a
six-legger, with twin rear to distribute better the heft of the
macadam. But I don't know if the 'Sentinel Standard' was ever
built in this axle formation.

They did a DG (double geared) 6 and 8 as well as the DG4, I
think. Looking good
