Had you just been fly tipping on behalf of Dudley in the above
       pic?

Today I have commenced preparations for the forthcoming MOT.
I've dug out the certificate and looked at the expiry date. I
then put some air in the tyres. Funny how they still look
inflated with only 12-18 psi in them...
What did you expect? A major stripdown?

Yesterday, on the 88, I replaced the front prop shaft, replaced
the front shock absorbers, adjusted the brakes and refitted the
door mirrors to the doors instead of the windscreen hinges,
where they've been for ages. No more huge blindspot round right
hand bends and I am amazed at the difference in the cornering
that replacing the shock absorbers has made!
It's one of those things that kind of creeps up on you - because
it comes on slowly you alter your driving to compensate and it's
only when you fix it (in this case replacements) that you
realise just how bad things were. Now it feels like a vehicle
under control instead of a space hopper!

Good work Dave. What make shocks did you use ?

       Procomp ES3000 :gay:
The next job will be to raise the rear end of the motor. The
springs have sagged somewhat so I need some longer shackles to
make it sit up. I tried to get some of those adjustable ones
from Tarantula 4x4 but the ignorant git hasn't replied to my
email so I'm after buying some suitable steel bar and borrowing
a drill bit of the appropriate size and a pillar drill to go
       with it.
That's unless anyone has a pair of those military long shackles
for the rear of a 109?

Dunno. I'm one of those people who are quite happy to have a
caravan but have no idea how it works.

I believe you 'live' in them Dave - oh, and annoy anyone else
who hasn't got one by blocking all roads!

The OLLR Road Maggot Society will be going to the east coast
next month. I intend to go via Garrowby Hill. I can see the
queue of cars all the way back to the A64 now... ;D

Is this a caravan road trip to the show that gets all the Pikeys
at Driffield. It's a magnet for thieves and those nasty Boingy
dismantlers so effectively advertised on Countryfile last year
       ::)

They do not seem reply to any emails and do not answer phones,
tried them as well and achieved the same result - bought new
springs instead, only later to find out that there's a
blacksmith nearby who hammers old road springs back into shape.
But after driving on parabollics I wouldn't switch back to
       semi-elliptical ones anyhow...

He answered the phone to me last week but didn't have any in
stock. He's making some for me and Mr. Cornwall of this parish
will be collecting them for me next week.
As reported in the COW3 thread, the 88 failed, on the 07:30
Ossett-Llanbedr service last Saturday, with a dead battery and
alternator so it's back in works for a 'B' exam tomorrow.
The 109 was pressed into service and arrived 5 hours late at
Llanbedr. So much did I not enjoy driving a 2.25 diesel over 300
miles that I've decided now that if it doesn't sell soon then
it's going to have a Tdi, a series 2 gearbox, a set of parabolic
springs and a series 2 bulkhead and front end fitted. I'll then
       be keeping it!
Of course that's assuming I ever find the time and can assemble
a ninja squad at a suitable location. ::)
