       What happened to Sunday?[/quote]
Whaddya mean? You never mentioned owt about Sunday. Anyway I had
an arsedness fail and then had a job to Manchester.
I'm planning on phoning Luke and taking it over to his shed on
Saturday. It can rain then and I won't care.
Anyway, never mind that, let's see these naked women.

I've had a brake pipe made up and have bought some nuts for the
new brake cylinder so all I need to get is some fluid and I'm
good to go on the brakes. Got to work tomorrow morning and it's
going to rain (again!) so I'll take you up on the offer of help
       on Sunday, Ste.
If that doesn't sort it I'll try and get some 109 rear brakes
and will take Luke up on the offer of the use of his shed. I'll
enjoy driving the 101 home. :smilewide:
       Cheers, chaps.

So I did. Oops, soz Steve. Fucking work! Over-worked and
underpaid, I need a holiday but need a working Land Rover first
cos the road maggot won't tow itself. :smiley-furious:

Today I manned the fuck up and mustered arsedness a-plenty.
Primed with chip butties, spam fritters and curry sauce, Luke
and I headed out to his secret hideout in the hills and got down
to some serious Land Rover fixing. Well, I have to admit Luke
did 95% of it. I just passed tools, cleaned brake shoes and
drums and pumped the brake pedal.
So now it has two more new brake cylinders and 3 brand new brake
pipes. The brakes still aren't right though. Faffing with
clamping various combinations of flexi hoses proved that there
is air in the rear brakes and an attempt to bleed these was
thwarted by bleed nipples snapping off and arsedness levels
having run low. The rear brakes now need the cylinders replacing
and, no doubt, new brake pipes for them.
Still, other stuff got fixed. The horn works again, the
sidelight works again and the rear fog light works again
(although I wasn't aware that this wasn't working). The doors
now shut properly without having to slam them so hard the glass
       almost comes out.
More stuff has been found to be knackered though - never pick a
scab, especially one on a Land Rover bulkhead!

So it's one step forward and two steps back and it's still not
fit to go for an MOT. The current one expires after tomorrow
       too. :(

The best laid plans of mice and men n that...
I planned to take Friday off work to get some brake pipes made
up, fit them and do the other little jobs that need doing for
the test. I was then going to take it in for a test on Saturday
       morning.
Unfortunately I got pressured into working Friday but I reckoned
I could at least do the jobs on the Land Rover over this weekend
and take a morning off to get it in for the test. So yesterday
morning, full of enthusiasm and the joys of spring, I sallied
forth to obtain some brake pipes. I returned and instead of
cracking on with the job I took the dogs out for a run and went
       to a model railway show...
After lunch I manned the fuck up! I got the wheels off, the back
end up on axle stands, brake shoes off, old cylinders off, new
cylinders on, brake shoes back on, drums on...
Then came fitting the new pipes. The new cylinders turned out to
have imperial threads but my old ones were metric and the new
pipes had metric fittings both ends. :banghead By now the local
Land Rover emporia were closed and I couldn't get the correct
ends on the pipes so the job was fucked.
This morning I fitted one of the halogen headlamps that I got
for xmas and after grinding some of the backing plate to get the
new lamp to fit, I got it back together and working. I then
welded up the holes in the bulkhead using paper and paint.

So now all it needs is brake pipes and the brakes bleeding but
that's not going to happen this week. :(

I managed to get some imperial fittings on the cylinder ends of
the new pipes and have now got them fitted. After a disaster
       with a Gunsons bloodydifficultbleedandgetbrakefluidallover I
managed to get some air out by the old fashioned method of
getting an unwilling recruit to pump the pedal.
It's still not right though and it's still on axle stands in the
street cos I ran out of arsedness and the local OLLRers who I
attempted to contact weren't answering their phones for some
       bizarre reason... :-?
