OK so it's a perennial topic for which I apologise in advance.
Old bloke, standard (ish) 88" running on gas, which insurers
would you recommend? Currently with Flux but not entirely happy
with renewal quote.

Got my 84 Ex-mil with Footman James, but they have tightened up
the rules for new customers on 'historic' vehicle, and just
insured my 'new' Disco 4.9 gas with Saga from a quote off
Moneysupermarket.com (£189 f/c Mrs & me driving), only £30
dearer than our Megane!

effects it.

I'll try Footman James- that is substantially less than I have
been quoted for one vehicle. Thanks to positive responders...

Try Peter James, he was the James of Footman James but sold out
last year. Footman James have really gone down hill since. Lots
of friends have moved over to him and the service and price is
really good. I'm going to move the steamer when it's due.
Footman James were nothing but hard work at my last renewal.

I agree, Footman James can be hard work but they are good for
multi vehicle policies. Can take an hour to do your first quote
with them as they ask for loads of details. My Series 3 isn't
garaged but it is parked off road and I have the obligatory
pacman steering lock.
My renewal is 29th March so I will update this thread later.
I currently have a Mini, a Metro and my Series 3 on my policy,
with 5 named drivers and unlimited mileage. All comprehensive
with NCD protection and legal cover and Business Class1 . They
are not very competitive on non-classics or newer cars though.
My Frontera (caravan puller) is with Academy at £280
regards
David
