       Hiccuping V8

My Stage 1 V8 has developed an occasional hiccup when driving.
It's a bit inconsistent, but will happen a couple of times in 15
miles. I replaced points, filters and HT leads about 600 miles
ago but the problem has been getting worse lately. One day last
week, it was reluctant to start, and then on the way home on
Friday just ground to a halt at the top of a hill after
gradually losing power. A 10 second rest, and it restarted and
drove the rest of the way home no probs.
Could this be the fuel pump on the way out, carb problem or
       something else?
I'm a bit new to the world of V8's so bear with me! :smile1

       I'd guess coil or condensor

Sounds like condensor, my 88 exhibited similar symptoms (but
went from healthy to dead in about 4 miles)
if it clears as you back of the throttle it could be fuel
       starvation (pump or blocked filter)

i've had two coils crack thier cases in the past, they then
leaked thier fluid out and gave similar symptoms
vibrating in thier clamps wore through the case until they were
thin enough to crack, one was a moggy minor and the other was on
       my old Daytona bitsa

Check the above as suggested, also check the carb dashpots for
oil (use engine oil to top up) and also the they are not
       sticking in their travel.

Cheers for those. It's been good as gold today! The dashpots are
fine, just topped up the other week. I also fitted a Lucas Gold
coil with new HT leads 3 months back so I suppose that leaves
the condensor? I've got a Powerspark kit sitting on the shelf
waiting to be fitted, so that would replace the condensor as
       well. Next job! :smile1
Would me replacing the original ballasted coil and resistor with
the above 12V coil cause any problems now?
