Heres a couple of pictures .I dont know the carrying capacity
.The guy who built it used it to carry a couple of motocross
bikes. There doesnt seem to be suspension but its running on
either 12 or 13 inch tyres. Its there to be converted by someone
who wants it.Its the usual OLLR price .I bought it but I cant
see me using it anymore and I rather it got used
.

Can I have second dips please John? I will have to get a NATO
hitch first, and probably won't need the lightboard in the back
as I have got one already. That green paint will need touching
up too - any chance you could do that before I collect it? ;D

Hi John,
Thanks for the pictures, unfortunately that is a bit big for my
needs, and I legally need one with a data plate on it as I have
one of the post 2001 trailer weight restrictions on my licence.
I appreciate the thought though

Err, why?
The law limits what you can tow if it has a data plate.
If it doesn't have a data plate, then AFAIK they can only go on
the actual vehicle weights. I'm willing to be corrected on this,
but I've not read anything suggesting that post 1997 drivers can
only tow trailers with plates on.
Anyway, it's not like it would be hard to paint SWL 600kg or
something similar on it if you wanted to make sure.
It's unbreaked anyway, which limits it to 750kg gross for all
drivers. (I'm not sure what score is if you tow an unbraked
trailer with a vehicle of under 750kg unladen weight , but
that's hardly an issue that will trouble Landrover owners).

Looks about the right size for a 3" traction with driving cart.
At least it won't be bouncing along behind quite as bad. But
what do I know

Matt, pin your ears back and listen to advice above before
dismissing it so quickly.
As JE points out, the fact that it is unbraked, means that it is
automatically restricted to 750kg.
The main problem that you are going to have is that a 750kg
trailer is a right pain in the arse to tow with a land rover, as
you cant see them, which makes reversing impossible. Not
normally that much of a problem as you just unhitch at your
destination and turn it round by hand.
I guess that this just another problem with paedo-scale engines,
they are too big to go in a SWB and to small to be taken
seriously.

Ah, fair do's in that case John and Fentiger. I was working on
the principle that if i were to be stopped by plod, having a
data plate with 750kg or under stamped on it would be a lot less
hassle than them asking why I had an unplated trailer which I
couldnt prove was under the limit (I went through this minefield
once when we borrowed an unplated ~2 ton trailer for moving
sheds). I didnt realise that a trailer being unbraked was
instant proof of sub 750. That makes my search a lot easier,
however I need to be careful I dont go too far the other way as
I know a lot of the cheaper bike trailers arent strong enough to
handle a 350kg engine.

I was only going off what other steamy folk have told me with
regards to having an indespensioned trailer for the sake of the
engine. But given how anal dad has been about building an
insulated dehumidified storage pod for it in the garage ("it was
a lot of money and we are going to look after it"), I very much
doubt he would let me buy one with no apparent suspension.
The main problem here thought is the width: the reason I was
after a single bike trailer is because we are very tight on
space to stow it - we just have room to get a single-bike-width
trailer on its end flat up against the wall inbetween some
cabinets and behind one of the cars (and I am not being
difficult here but there is no way we will be allowed to leave
it lying around outside). the driving trolley and other gubbins
can go in the back of the landy - the trailer will be solely
for the engine.
Before anyone accuses me of being difficult as usual and not
following advice, I am merely laying out the facts. A lot of the
decisions listed above are my parents not mine. They own the
garage and the nearly new cars in it the trailer will be
squashed up against. And the communal grounds maintenance
company would have something to say about leaving things like
old trailers lying around the courtyard. I am trying my best
here but as such, I can either find a trailer that fits all the
stipulations sizewise or I can go without so, I dont really have
much choice but to be picky I am afraid :-\
