       Nugg's Brakeline Baking

This isn't really a 'how to' topic, more of a tale of a job that
       isn't that difficult or honerous.
A couple of years ago I made all my brake lines; having made
them I fitted them and being a twat put some grease on the pipe
to stop the union welding itself to the copper pipe some time in
the future. I say twat, becasue I used copper grease and it had
exactly the opposite effect; so when I came to change a wheel
cylinder, swap flexi's and make one pipe yesterday, I had some
       more to make.......
and they happened to be the bastard ones that bend around the
       back plate.
       So:
gather equipment: (copper pipe, a decent pipe cutter, unions and
       a half decent flaring tool)

cut pipe to the right length and 'tidy up' the cut ends as much
as you want ( I don't do too much, I just take my time with the
pipe cutter) It certainly helps to blow through the pipe with
what ever is avaliable - air line or other.
Flare Pipe ( method varies depending on tool)
It also helps if, when using this type , that your vice isn't
       fucked!
       So Improvise....

Remember to put a union on both ends beofre flaring!

In this case the pipe shape needs to stay circular and I just
use a bar to bend the pipe around to get the right angles to fit
       the application.
and the application being such thats its a sod to fit when the
wheel cylinders are in situ, well certainly the bottom wheel
       cylinder anyway.

It's satifsfying if nothing else and having the stuff 'in the
larder' makes brake work a little less of a pig if on a sunday
you find you need a pipe.

       ....an update/top tip
If constructing long lines ( like the sort on an 80 that bend
and wind around the chassis) or any lines really, a great tip is
to tape the union to the flare at each end before carrying out
       any pipe bending.
       Thanks Luke!!!
.....cos enthusiam can sometimes get in the way of a good job
and 90degree bends expertly executed with the union the wrong
       side of it; bo........llox!
