Fixed it!

Had a small mishap about 3 weeks ago involving an escaping front
prop and a smashed up transfer box.
Today saw me crawling around under Tubs replacing the mangled
transfer box. Not a bad job really. The worst part was getting
things all stripped down and realising the EP90 was in the back
of the car which was 15 miles away at t'other halfs work ::)
All back together, running nicely and as a side effect of
stripping everything down and reassembling the handbrake has
started working again too ;D
Well chuffed that a) it's working agaibn and b) it didn't cost
me owt either :P

Oooh, I'd better replace the pront prop on Rex then, if that's
what could happen!
I've had a new one ready for a couple of weeks (loads of play in
the splines on the old one) but not got round to it :-[

I don't run often in 4wd and have FWH so front prop is not
something I generally notice until I'm really in the shit ::)
I went down to the beach with stepson for a driving lesson and
locked the FWH, selected low box and was about to go for a bit
of dune bashing and there was a clunk, clunk, clunk BANG! When I
crawled under to investigate what had caused the noise I was
greeted by the nose being totally smashed off the transfer box
and only 1 bolt left holding the front prop on. The prop had
jammed hard against the gearbox bellhousing and the extra torque
of low box caused the catastrophic damage.
I'll get some pics posted when I find some camera batteries.

Well done. I've just sat down after repairing the leak from my
inner rear hub seal. Fingers crossed all sorted. ;D

probably came close myself to that one front prop was toast
ran without one for a week and got it fixed - glad i didnt let
it develop
