If it's drivable and fairly complete, get it insured and book an
MOT at a garage near home.
quote----
It is generally an offence to use on a public road, a vehicle of
testable age that doesn’t have a current test certificate,
except when:
taking it to a test station for an MOT test booked in advance
bringing it away from a test station after it has failed the MOT
test, to a place of repair
taking it to a place, by previous arrangement, where problems
that caused the vehicle to fail its MOT test, can be repaired
bringing it away from a place where the problems with the
vehicle have been repaired
Even in the above circumstances you may still be prosecuted for
driving an unroadworthy vehicle if it doesn’t comply with
various regulations
affecting its construction and use. Your car insurance may also
be invalid.

IIRC you can't do that ^^^^. The test station has to be a
reasonable distance away not the other side of the country.

With respect to AllanI, you can drive from Lands End to a MOT
booked at Wick (There's no MOT Station at John O'Groats). There
is
no mention of distance to MOT point in regs.
I bought a Disco (sorry) in Leeds and drove it to the Kwik Fit
in Thirsk on a pre-booked
MOT, I was pulled on an ANPR on the A1 and after the VRO guy
phoned Kwit Fit I was sent on my way :)

while she runs and drives i wouldn't trust her on any sort of
distance as its been along while since shes done any sort of
distance and with dodgy brakes... and tdi power... probs not the
best idea. trailer i think would be best she will drive onto one
happily enough :)

109". I forget the name of the firm but it came up on a google
search and there were branches all over. Hire rates were around
£95 plus small mileage charge if you did over 350 miles. Seemed
very reasonal tbh. Fitted with a leccy winch too. ;)

^^^That's what I used when relocating Vinny's Florence the 180
odd miles from Derbyshire to Wiltshire. The whole event was made
so easy it was worth every penny.
