An interesting forum, nevertheless I must highlight a concern
that has just sprung to mind. That is a publicly accessible
forum, no signup required, and thus anyone can have a good
mooch, see where posters are located and then see exactly what
is in their shed. There have been a number of threads across
several land rover/steam/[insert shed related activity here]
forums recently reporting workshop break-ins, stolen tools and
equipment and even vehicles in some cases. As such, I am doubly
wary of posting any pictures or videos taken in the yard online
that even show inside the open door to the garage..... never
mind posting a detailed contents list! :o

there was a couple who tried suing google earth, because as the
csmera car went past thry had the doors to their gsrage open and
on the street view you could see inside it.
A few days after their streetwent live they had everything in
their garage stolen.
Could just have been coincidence but they blamed google earth.

Well your concerns needn't raise your blood-pressure, Mat.
Firstly, yes!...it is an open forum, save for one forum room.
And that's the way I've set it up to encourage folk who do
leftfield activities, not normally associated with what we on
here would routinely do in our sheds, that it's a broad church
and there is a place for them. But only registrants can post.
Secondly, there are no addresses or grid-reference co-ordinates
for the sheds, so it's hardly likely to be a directory of
screwable tool bazaars.
Thirdly, you'll notice that there isn't a great deal of
activity. That's because we're all shedding and if any marauder
tried invading the sheds of individuals, he or she is likely to
get a good length of 10mm x 50mm flat-bar wrapped around their
skull.
But I take your points on-board and may, should folks start
giving exact locations of sheds, tweak the settings to ensure
full security.

[/quote]Hummm, good point here. That's the problem with this
Google earth. You can also see what car you have on your
driveway. Also what's in your garden.... Bonkers really, thief’s
paradise.

Well for the sake of global shed security and the confidence of
anybody who has so much as a screwdriver in anywhere but their
kitchen junk-bits drawer, I've closed all but 'Rules' and
'Hello' on 'Sheds and Shit'.
I'll give it another week and then I'll move this topic to the
'Epic Fail' forum of OLLR ;D

Hmmm, me thinks you have been listening to too much Jeremy Vine
and reading the Daily Mail. How exactly can it be a thiefs
paradise? There is nothing that is on Google "Streetview" that
cannot be seen by walking down the street, and even now the
Streetview for my house is 3 1/2 yrs out of date.
