over-running

Help i've run out of ideas, my s3 wont stop overrunning and i've
tried everything i can think of. I rebuilt the landy during 2011
and its been on the road since October. During the rebuild I had
a specialist do the engine overhaul including unleaded valves.
Since its been on the road i've had the dizzy overhauled the
Weber conversion re-jetted and checked and the timing done twice
by 2 independant mechanics who specialise in this area. Looking
at the plugs they are not shot but they show its running to hot.
The engine is not running hot in anyway. Pumping the throttle
sometimes stops it during overrunning or I have to stall it. I
tried plugs NGK BS6 with higher heat capabilities but no help.
Any ideas would be very helpful.

What do you mean over running? Is the engine still running when
you turn it off or is it popping when going down a steep hill?

Now i'm shit when i comes to petrol engines :-[ but over
running is caused i think buy something in the combustion
chamber glowing hot enough to keep the engine firing when the
spark is turned. It used to be caused by carbon build up i the
old days. Perhaps it's running a tad lean and the plug tips are
getting hot and glowing.....

Running lean or the timing is out?
The later Zenith carbs fitted to the 5mb engines had a solenoid
fitted to stop the engine running on.
