A figure detaches himself from the shadows in the corner, and
Ciano emerges. "I thought it best to give you fair warning of my
presence before you began to discuss secrets," he says with a
wry smile on his face. "I am not a dishonest man. Make what
negotiations you will, and I will not interfere. I am only here
to ensure that you do not plot behind the backs of Italy and
Germany. Especially in your case, Mr. Stalin- I greatly hope
that you do not intend to dishonor any treaties tonight."

Stalin glares at the man, "I have every intention of honoring
treaties. I do not intend, however, to be listened to by
Hitler's Lap Dog."
He walked out of the room, his fellows behind him.

Ciano shakes his head as the men leave. "Italy and Germany may
be allies, but that does not mean my personal beliefs are
aligned with Hitler's. I advise you not to disregard my input- I
may be the greatest friend you have in Italy."

Lebrun hangs back to have a last word with Ciano:
"I would like to give my assurance to you that France is not
against Italy in the least, and we would be open to negotiating
with you in due time. However, ideological differences, opinions
on Spain, and alliances made with Germany make it very difficult
to forge a friendship between our two nations. However, we do
not see you as a main aggressor in this diplomatic conflict. We
are open to friendly relations, but we would like to discuss the
issue alone, if you don't mind. I actually enjoy your company as
a person, from how we've talked over meals. Thank you for being
honest and understanding."
Lebrun rushes to catch up with his fellow leaders and show them
to a room which he is sure is secure and uninhabited.

Stalin shuts the door behind them, annoyed, then pauses to
compose himself. Doing so he turns to his comrades.
"Gentlemen," he says, speaking careful French, "i believe we are
men of similar interests. We wish to protect our people and
nations. We wish to provide for ourselves and our citizens.
This business with Hitler, I foresee ending badly for all of us.
I wish to form an alliance with both of you in some respect."

"Our military mission to Spain has allowed our military to
organize, so we are ready to defend, if necessary. However, we
realized that our military is quite outdated, so we have begun
producing more modern weapons to keep up with what we see
Germany now has. We're by no means weak, but our military is not
remarkably strong."

"We have over a million soldiers ready for combat,but most of
them are conscripts and our weapones are from Word war one or
older.But our soldiers are brave and ready to die for their
fatherland."
