Golden Eagles FC easily saw off Artic Storm in a convincing 4-0
win in a game that saw at least every Eagles outfield players
have at least 1 goal on target! Again, they dominated possession
and only limited their opponents to 1 shot on goal.
Jack Groves put Eagles ahead in the 15 minute and Pavel
Chernyshev scored 3 minutes later, breaking his pre-season duck
to make it 2-0 after a brilliant solo run! Nice turn of pace
from the Russian.
A further 3 minutes later and it was 3-0, wing-backs Taavi
Ruusumäki and Kai Matsumoto linked together, well the former
feeding a lovely pass to the latter. The Japanese lad hitting a
screamer as he put Eagles firmly in the driving seat.
It looked that this could be a rout, but Eagles took their foot
off the gas. So Eagles didn't get a 4th until the 74th minute,
sub Artem Poltorak found Diog Guillems in a lot of space and the
Portuguese midfielder smashed the ball into the bottom corner!
4-0! After the game, Taavi Ruusumäki was named man of the match,
the Finn was certainly hand-fall for Storm.
The win sees Eagles finish top of group 3 with maximum points
and they will face rivals Nerrad in the quarter finals.

Reykjavík Reapers could only manage a 1-1 draw against Eastern
Whirlwinds, after have 2 players sent off dented their hopes of
finishing with max points. Thankfully that point still meant
they would finish top with Hellhounds and and Acorn also
drawing.
Aksel Mikkelsen put Reapers ahead in the 21st minute, as the
Dane hit a sweet shot from Claudio Carrillo's assist. Ramon
Baxter equalised in the 39th minute, after slipping his marker
and beating Jordan Giordano who couldn't quite keep it out.
Mikkelsen then went from hero to zero, after punching Baxter in
the face! Disgusting behaviour, something must have provoked the
usually cool-headed midfielder. Things got even worse 10 minutes
later, with Anders Nylander also given his marching orders for a
2nd yellow card. Disastrous!
Somehow Reapers managed to hold out for the point, despite the 2
man deficit. Ramon Baxter, was given the match of the match
award purely for the reason he took a punch from the 6 foot Dane
and got back up!
Reapers now face Dusseldorf Dragons int he quarter-finals,
despite being unmanaged they finished the top of group 5 with 9
points. So this will be a tough match for the Icelandic team, as
they were already missing number 1 keeper Rafael Alvarado
through injury, but they will also be missing the suspended
midfield duo of Aksel Mikkelsen and Anders Nylander.

We round off the group stage with a third win in three games,
but this is the best result of them all 46 attempts on goal and
all but 70% possession away from home to one of our first
division rivals. This was a great showing for Sarnians 2.0. We
will need to rotate again a little for the quarter finals which
hopefully doesn’t dampen our form.
