The Tampere Talon - Season 4 Preview
By: Dave Rosewell Date: April 6, 2024, 5:19 am

After a hard fought battle between themselves, Helsinki
Hellhounds, Robbaillie Escocia and Cockney Cockrells, Golden
Eagles FC emerged as division 2 champions! It was certainly a
tough fight for the Tampere based side, having spent much of the
season 3-6 points off the lead. However, that all changed during
the closing weeks of the season, when the teams around them
began to slip up. They even survived a scare on the last day,
after losing at home to Robbaillie, thankfully they had built up
a superior goal difference over Hellhounds, that saw them keep
hold of top spot!
Now Eagles find themselves in Division 1 and the board of
directors have given manager Dave Rosewell a clear goal for this
season, more silverware!

Coming and Goings
To meet their goals, Eagles have had a busy pre-season in the
transfer market to bring in some fresh talent to strengthen the
team.
[li] First up English midfielder Bryan Prittwick, who was
impressive at Nikara Dragons last season was signed from the
Japanese outfit in mid-March. With young prospects Martin
Procházka and Jussi Härmäläinen going the other way (before they
eventually ended up at Hellhounds). The deal also saw Eagles
receive Ł30mil.[/li]

[li] Next Eagles also signed Theo Taylor from Dragons a
week or so later. The deal shocked the Eagles fan base somewhat,
as Alessio Kovacic and Danik Marashko left the division 2
champions. It was reasonable that Marashko would leave, as he
was desperate for first team action, having dropped down the
peaking order with Kai Matsumoto's signing late last season.
However, it was a surprise to see Kovacic leave, the Swiss
attacking midfielder having scored 13 goals in all competitions.
Marashko then reunited with Dave Rosewell no longer afterwards,
at his new caretaker team - Reykjavik Reapers. [/li]

[li] There was still yet more surprising deals to come
along however. A monumental deal between Eagles and arch rivals
Hellhounds saw Jans Goisthalt and Min So Jouy, along with recent
signing Theo Taylor (who had only played 1 friendly game) leave
the club! Goisthalt scored 19 goals last season, while So Jouy
supplied 68 key passes and 8 assists, both players have been
instrumental Eagles' success and will be certainly missed by the
fans. Their replacements are top quality though, Jack Groves
scored 23 goals for Kyushu Yakuza last season (before moving to
Hellhounds) and Diog Guillems had a fantastic second half of the
season at Kingfisher Dolphins. American defensive midfielder
Spencer Mason also joined in the deal and is tipped to become
the next Rodrigo Desábato.[/li]

[li] Next up is young Belgian prospect - Andy Confente made a
move to United 1908, as the division 2 club look to the future.
Experienced Argentine midfielder Tomáz Moralez reunites with
Dave Rosewell, having played under him during his tenure as
1908's caretaker. Eagles also received Ł15mil in the
deal.[/li]

[li] Some auction activity next, Eagles signed Paco Chia
from the minutes release auction for a fee of Ł25mil, having
missed out meeting his required playing minutes last season
while at Kingfisher Dolphins. The Brazilian has been bough in as
back up, as the club ensures they have the number to cope with
the longer season. He is expected to put pen to paper once the
auction closes tomorrow.[/li]

[li] Lastly 16 year old Uzbekistani defender Akram Miraz
was signed by the Eagles scout, as they cast their talent pool
far and wide for this season. The young lad will be hoping to
make a good impression and is tipped for great things.[/li]
