Wolves 0-1 Sarnians
A great result, and a man of the match performance from who else
than Ady Sanders, a perfect response to yet more unsolicited
transfer offers this week. But he was the stand out performer
and match winner for us this week.
The other good news this week is that every member of the squad
have now made their minutes for the season so we can enjoy the
final two league matches before the all important cup final.

Match overview
What a cracking game this was. Nikara came primed to attack
their opponents from the off knowing they needed a win and ended
up countering Helsinki throughout the match. All three results
were possible but by fortune more than skill Helsinki triumphed
4 - 3 and take a huge step towards promotion!!
How they lined up
Helsinki went for 3 at the back and the extra man in midfield,
choosing to play a European style to try and combat their
opponents approach.
Nikara came prepared and went all out attack but kept 4 men in

1 - 0 Nikara came out strong and took a deserved lead through
top scorer Honzo on 7 mins
1 - 2 Helsinki found their way into the game and got a double
midway through the first half with Kiss and then Shephard
turning the game on its head. It’s stayed that way until half
time
3 - 2 It must have been some team talk from Taylor as he sent
out his team fired up and they scored inside a minute but had to
wait into 70 minutes to retake the lead through Shallahs
3 - 4 But this Helsinki side are full of fighters. The subs came
on and Harrisjones and then Shynkarenko turned the momentum and
the result once more to win it for Helsinki and ensure they
remain in the automatic promotion places!!
Manager's mouthful
Wow. What a game. We’re just glad we came out on top in this
one. Credit to Nikara who came out to play a rightly feel
aggrieved not to have got something from this game. I loved the
way the lads never gave up. They kept coming and coming and
coming today. To notch 30+ shots away from home says a lot about
this group.
Man of the match
Reece Evans had two tackles and an assist. Four players for a
goal each but Shynkarenko’s all round performance edged it with
6 key passes, 2 tackles and the match winning goal. Well done!

Nikara drop chance to put pressure on promotion places
The Nikara Dragons had spent much of the past 2 weeks trying to
drag themselves back into promotion contention and having won
two on the bounce with matches against people ahead of them in
the league they did just that. That is, until today when their
promotion dreams were left in tatters after coming up short in a
7 goal thriller against the Hellsinki Hellhounds. The game
leaves their playoff chances hanging on by a thread as we get to
the final two games of the season.
The tale of the game
As reported extensively in the lead up to the game the
Hellhounds have a far superior team at near enough every
position. The much vaunted analytics department at Nikara had
identified a number of potential ways to offset some of this
advantage, clearly to no benefit in the end. Home field
advantage can be a useful start point but they also noticed a
propensity to play 3 at the back and rely on their midfielders
tackling skills to cover any gaps. This felt like an opportunity
that the Dragons could attempt to exploit so they decided to
push on with an Attacking tactic thinking they would fight fire
with fire.
How did it go?
Tactically the assumptions made on tactics played out perfectly
with A having a tactical advantage over E. Paired with home
field advantage and maybe something interesting would happen.
And interesting it was!! The Dragons got the lead early through
Hatori HANZO who scored his first goal in ages. The lead lasted
about 18 minutes and just three minutes after that the Japanese
team found themselves behind. At this point the Attacking
strategy could have backfired horribly, however the Nikara
Dragons fought their way back into it, even taking the lead
again on 70 minutes. Alas, it was not to be and with just 10
minutes left the Hellhounds took the final lead of a a thrilling
contest.
What do the stats say
The stats say the game was just as wild as it sounds. Despite
losing both advantages the team from Hellsinki managed to
generate 33 shots on goal against 27 for Nikara. A combined 60
shots on goal of which 26 were on target making it a miracle
that it was "only" a seven goal thriller. It does highlight that
this Dragons team don't have the firepower to go hyper
aggressive against a good team yet.
What's next for the Dragons
Another belter of a home clash when they play the playoff bound
Cockney Cockrells in a game that they will be expected to lose.
Still they will try to think of a way to give the Cockrells a
run for their money whilst also trying to cling on to their
flailing playoff chances. Prittwick will be missing in midfield
but with Melav needing to play to make his minutes this is
probably not the worst news ever. Otherwise everyone else has
made their minutes so there's no additional pressure to play
anyone, likely meaning Van Cleef takes a spot back on the
bench!!

Golden Eagles FC returned to the top of the table for the first
time since week 1 after a convincing 3-0 victory at home to Sky
Blues. Eagles dominated possession (64%/36%) shots (32/10) and
key passes (23/6) and it was only S Ogrizovic's fine performance
that kept the scoreline palatable for the visitors with 13
saves. It is strange to think that it has taken Eagles this long
to regain top spot, despite being on an 11 game unbeaten run in
the league. However, they have had a few frustrating draws and
at 1 point they were 6 points off the top.
Jans Goisthalt opened the scoring in the 21st minute, skipping
over opposite number Dion Dublin's poor challenge and blasting
the ball home. Eagles then survived a potential penalty scare a
few minutes later after Kai Matsumoto accidentally handled in
the box, thankfully the ref waved on, much to Andy Burton's
dismay!
Captain Artem Poltorak scored Eagles' 2nd in the 39th minute;
Angelo Nazari threaded a neat pass to the Ukrainian right-back
and his shot took a wicked defection as it sailed past the
hapless Blues' keeper. Tupe Omsouto thought he had pulled goal
back in first half injury time, but it was ruled out for a foul!
The Blues' players surrounded the ref, but he just waved them
away as he blew for half time.
5 minutes after half time, Eagles went 3-0 up, Angelo Nazari
held the ball up and played a sweet through ball to Alessio
Kovacic and the Swiss maestro rounded the keeper to score an
easy tap in. Pavel Chernyshev, Taavi Ruusumäki, Jans Goisthalt
all had chances to extend Eagles' lead further, but they were
all well saved by S Ogrizovic. The game finished 3-0, with
Angelo Nazari picking up the man of the match award. The
Filipino wonderkid had 2 assists, 3 key passes and 4 shots.
"Great performance by the lads and we are extremely happy to be
back up the top. Of course we can't count our chickens just yet,
with 2 games remaining and the likes of Robbaillie, Hellhounds
and Cockrells still breathing down our necks."
Eagles are now top by a single point after Cockney Cockrells
beat Robbaillie Escocia 2-0. Cockrells stay in 4th, as
Hellhounds came from 2-3 down away to Nikara Dragons to win 4-3,
keeping them in 3rd spot.

United 1908 pulled off somewhat of a surprise 2-4 away win
against play-off hopefuls Kingfisher Dolphins in an entertaining
game. United were 1-0 inside 7 minutes, R Arakishvili played a
low cross and it was met by star player A. Perebyinis who
hammered home from close range. Young Dolphins keeper Simon
Comely thought he palmed it off the line, but the goal was
awarded. Gastro Huahm pulled the hosts level 6 minutes later,
beating A. Schetynsky with a fine goal.
However, barely a minute elapsed before United re-took the lead,
as Psotos Illyte met Tomáz Moralez's corner, 2-1. Things got
even worse for new Dolphins manager Dan Thompson a minute later,
as a mistake by Goy Van Elst gifted B. Ivakhiv a golden
opportunity and his shot blasted through Simon Comely's fingers!
The young lad really made a meal of that save.
United went 4-1 up in the 23rd minute, Tomáz Moralez headed a
flick into Psotos Illyte's path as the Bulgarian picked up his
2nd of the game. 10 minutes later, B. Sakousis gave the home
side some hope as he reduced the deficit to 2 goals again.
However, it somehow finished 2-4, United pretty much controlled
the 2nd half and where happy just to sit on their 2 goal lead.
Psotos Illyte was awarded with Man of the Match after the game,
he was one of United's best players with 2 well taken goals.
After the match care taker manager Dave Rosewell said, "Well I
gotta admit that I am a little surprised we managed to nick 3
points here, great result!" United are now 2 points behind 7th
placed AFC Coventry and 3 points behind Nikara Dragons, who both
lost their week 20 games.

Pompey Chimes 2 Gyergyoi FC 2
Another 'what might have been' game for GYHK, against a side who
at the start of the day were flying high in 2nd place in the
table.
Manager MikeM again went with a five-man defence and handed
youngster Blain_SMith yet another start to ensure he got his
season's minute tally done and dusted for the season.
The impressove P_Zsolt put Gyergyoi ahead in just under 10 mins
with a perfectly placed shot, bringing his season tally to 17, a
really good return for a side rooted near the foot of the table.
He must surely be attracting serious interest from other clubs
with this kind of eye-catching form. Pompey were back on level
terms before half-time but will count themselves slightly lucky.
Again, Gyergyoi came out firing in the 2nd half and deservedly
retained the lead again through P_Zsolt, this time with an
individual effort.
Pompey immediately made changes to both personnel and tactics,
playing far more attacking, and this change eventually paid off
with a late equaliser.
P_Zsolt was substituted late on to raptuous applause from the
away support. Both T_Sarpatki and A_Campbell had efforts either
against the woodwork or just wide in the closing minutes so it
was to remain a draw and means the Transylvanian team have to
take maximum points from the last 2 games to stand any chance of
avoiding the dreaded drop.
