Sarnians 3-2 Acorn Academicals
A really good result for us, with 6 teenagers in the starting
line up, and none of them looking out of place. 3 of them
scoring and a 4th weighing in with an assist the future is
looking bright to say the least.
Tuipers opened the scoring after a listening run from full back,
to break through the line and slot home. Esteboso was popping up
on the ball lots in the final third during the first half, but
Acorn equalised to send us in 1-1 at the break.
Then in the 57th minute a sublime first touch to receive the
ball by Eddie Staggs followed by a genius through ball taken in
the air by Raffi Karrar saw us go back into the lead, and 12
minutes we were 2 up with Esteboso taking a smart volley.
Esteboso taking his first MotM was well deserved and the win
sees us keep up to the sides above us as we remain in 5th.

well we did it the utd way scoring right at the death we should
of scored well before then but we failed to take our chances it
took my youngster to score the winning goal for us in the 89th
minute but at this stage of the season a win is a win as we stay
in 3rd place

Nikara get biggest win of the season
55,000 fans were on hand to watch the Nikara Dragons secure
their best win of the season defeating the in-form Highland
Rangers 5-0 at Sinegard Stadium. The performance was a surprise
to each and every one of the fans as they changed near enough
everything yet still put together a commanding performance.
What were these changes?
It started with formation where the Dragons opted for a fluid
433 formation with extra protection with a defensive midfielder.
Going with 3 up front was likely a response to Anders Limt being
suspended for thuggish behaviour but also ensured that both
Rutter and Shallohs played alongside Hatori Hanzo.
The club switched tactics playing Counter in the hope of
matching the Rangers and relying on home field advantage.
Instead the Rangers opted to play a passing style which made the
Dragons manager look like he new what was going on when in
reality that's probably far from the truth.
New signings making major impact
In the end it was none of the forwards that got on the
scoresheet despite netting 5 times! New midfield ace, Billy
Prittwick netted his 9th and 10th goals of the season whilst
fellow new signing midfielder Vitor Melav got off the mark on
debut. Highly regarded defensive prospect Ayho Kushimo and star
player Tommy Taylor were the other two goal scorers.
What does this do to the league table?
Absolutely nothing. The Dragons are still miles behind everyone
with very little hope of moving into playoff contention given
the Kingfisher Dolphins and Helsinki Hellhounds are 6 points
clear of 7th placed Nikara.
Next up for Nikara is an away fixture against Thames Ironworks
who came from behind to snatch a 2-2 draw against Hellsinki.

Golden Eagles FC could only manage 7 shots in a very tight match
against an extremely defensive Eastern Whirlwinds, of which only
1 was converted into a goal. However, as it turns out, that was
all Eagles needed to secure 3 vital away points. While
Whirlwinds could only manage 2 shots (both off target), this
thanks largely to the imperious display by the Eagles back four.
Eagles also dominated possession (70%/30%), as well as key
tackles (11/3) and key passes (11/7).
Frenchman Darío Bourrin scored the only goal of the match in the
29th minute, with a clinical solo effort that left L. Van Angel
with no chance. Taavi Ruusumäki was unlucky not to double the
away side's lead in the 67th minute, his shot beat the keeper,
but it struck the post and the rebound was caught by Van Angel.
Whirlwinds had a great opportunity to snatch a late equaliser in
the 87th minute, as Kilo Granitt lost his marker, but a well
time tackle by Eric Van Oist snuffed out the danger. In fact
that was one of the reasons why Van Oist was awarded the man of
the match, with a total of 4 key tackles and 1 key pass.
Certainly showed why he is one of the best defenders in OFMC.
"It was a super tight and somewhat frustrating game, but we got
the job done and we go into the final 4 games 2 points off the
top spot. It is certainly in our grasp now and we will keep
fight tooth and nail until the final whistle of the final game."
Elsewhere Eagles' rivals had a mixed bag of results, Robbaillie
Escocia beat Sky Blues, maintaining their 2 point advantage, but
both Cockney Cockrells and Helsinki Hellhounds both drew against
their opponents. So that means Cockrells lose ground and are now
2 points behind Eagles, while Hellhounds are a further 3 points
behind them in 4th.

United 1908 came from behind twice to earn a 2-2 draw away to
title contenders Cockney Cockrells. A draw was probably a fair
result, as possession and shots on target were pretty much even,
as were key passes.
Things couldn't have gotten off to a worst start however, as B
Kechakmadze put the goal into the back of his own next after
only 2 minutes! His back pass to keeper A Schetynsky was a bit
too hard and it caught him totally flat-footed! Calamity! United
did manage to pull level in the 37th minute, captain P. Dneprov
headed flick on was smashed home by fellow Ukrainian A.
Perebyinis.
Cockrells took the lead again, deep into first half stoppage
time, as Swede Andres Streng scored on his debut with a lovely
solo effort. Their lead only lasted until 2 minutes after the
break, Perebyinis scored his second of the game, his rifled shot
flew over Jesper Uhlls, hitting the underside of the bar and
going in! Somehow that's how it finished, United almost nicked
it at the end and Perebyinis almost grabbed a hat-trick, but he
and United were foiled by a fine save from Uhlls!
Perebyinis did win the man of the match award however, with 4
key passes, 4 shots and 2 goals. Surely United are going to have
a hard time keeping hold of their star midfielder next season.
"Great result, we were hoping for a point and we got what we
deserved."
Despite picking up a well earned point, it looks that United's
outside hopes of reaching the play-offs maybe out of reach now.
They dropped 2 points to 5th place Kingfisher Dolphins, who beat
fellow play-off hopefuls AFC Coventry 2-0. So they are now 10
points behind 5th, with only 12 points available in the final 4
games.

Match overview
Helsinki's indifferent form continued as they failed to get over
the line against a spirited Thames performance. Helsinki
dominated the game from start to finish but despite having over
30 attempts at goal they were pegged back their opponents and
were unable to find a winner. There can be few occasions where a
team dominates to much and fails to take away three points. The
only solace was that Cockney Cockrells also failed to win and so
no ground was lost on the precious third promotion space.
How they lined up
Helsinki went for 3 at the back and the extra man in midfield,
choosing to play a counter attacking style to try and combat
their opponents passing approach
Ironworks went with four at the back and a diamond in midfield
as they looked to pass their way through the Helsinki team.
Advantage to Helsinki from a tactical perspective.
Match action
Helsinki were at it from the off in this game with chances
flowing freely for them. It was no surprise when on 12 minutes
Shykarenko found DeDavis Roy and he found the back of the net
with a wicked swerving strike. 1 - 0 Helsinki.
Better was to come just before the half hour as the two newest
recruits combined to make it 2 - 0 Helsinki. Patrobe crossed for
Custer who headed home with some help off the keeper and
woodwork.
With half time beckoning and against the run of play, Ironworks
hit a sucker punch. A lapse of concentration from Shynkarenko
and Joe Cole waltzed in, first hitting the post and then putting
some the rebound. Hope for Ironworks at 2 -1 Helsinki.
In the second half and Helsinki again looked comfortable, having
chances and pushing for that all important cushion but on 62
minutes Benayoun snuck in a second and levelled it up at 2 - 2.
From there the team huffed and puffed but couldn't find the
quality to muster a winner. End result was a draw.
Manager's mouthful
It's difficult to come and speak to the press week after week
after week and explain away another poor result. We were clearly
dominant. We should have scored 5 or 6 today. But we didn't. We
only have ourselves to blame. Our opponents have a 14, 13, 12
and 9 rated shooters on the field. By comparison we have 18, 14,
13, 13, 13, 12 etc etc. It shouldn't happen. But this is
football and it did.
Man of the match
Craig Cluster takes home the award this week with a key tackle
and a goal. Well done Craig, keep up the great work.

Well where can I start, when I said I thought that Darlington
would be a dangerous side you could play against especially
after the disappointing semi final last mid week I never
expected it would turn out like this. The game turned into a ten
goal thriller and Darlington even had the lead on three
occasions. Darlington got off to a flier when Baxter put them
ahead on the fifth minute and it was sign of what was to come.
Then started the Caoihmin Og show (man of the match), on the
eighth minute he got the first of his four goals and followed
that three minutes later with his second. Then it was
Darlington's turn and they applied the pressure and equalised
through Miller on the twenty third minute and Hedley put them
ahead four minutes later on the twenty seventh minute. Caoihmin
Og put us al square on the thirty eighth minute snatching his
hat trick. Dagda put us ahead for the final time straight from
the second half kick off. Caoihmin Og grabbed his twenty fifth
goal of the season on the fifty seventh minute and Hikkarra
completed our scoring on the sixty fifth minute. Naylor grabbed
a consolation a minute later and taht completed the goal fest.
The game wasn't the cleanest with five yellow cards but no red
ones that was a relief. The win was important as we sit in
second place in the league still with a chance.[/font][/size]
