Nikara Dragons look to drag their season back
The Nikara Dragons, fresh off another draw, are looking to have
one last throw of the dice to save their season on Saturday as
they take a trip to XBox Quarter Finalists and 3rd place team
Golden Eagles. To say this match is an uphill battle is an
understatement.
The story of the table paints a clear picture. Nikara sit in 7th
place with a meagre 22 points in 16 games which equates to a
paltry 1.375 points per game. The Golden Eagles have amassed 30
points in the same number of games coming in at 1.875 points per
game which puts them just 3 points behind the Cockney Cockrells
and 5 behind Robbailie Escocia. Given their better team and home
field advantage this one looks like one way traffic.
Looking at the squads the situation doesn't get any more
comfortable for the Dragons. The Eagles host the top goalkeeper
in OFMC in 18 rated Uzbaezanov. Uzbaezanov underwent some sort
of crazy anti ageing surgery in the off season and his body
looks in remakable shape. He holds a 2 point advantage over
Zachariadis who holds the #1 jersey for Nikara.
In defence the Eagles hold 4 players rated 16 or over and even
have 2 backups that are better than whats on offer at Sinegard
Stadium. As has been well reported the Dragons have 2 14 rated
defenders and a bunch of 13 rated ones behind them. They do have
some youth so maybe the enthusiasm that comes with youth will
spur them on.
Maybe the midfield is where the Dragons can take the game by the
scruff of the neck? Sadly the picture is probably bleaker in
midfield than in defense. Bourrin and Desabato both offer 17
rated passing to go along with decent secondary skills. Kovacic
isn't far behind at 16 rated and young superstar Angelo Nazarri
hold down the 4th spot. For the Dragons they are marginally
better in midfield with Taylor, Fleuss, Limt and Sawogucci
holding the starting spots. Taylor has the potential to develop
into a top tier player in the coming years whilst Fleuss and
Limt offer a lot of potential.
Finally in the striking department, the Golden Eagles have
Chernyshev and Goisthlt are both 16 rated finishers with both
scoring freely. The Dragons have Hanzo and Streng manning the
forward position and whilst they are a bit behind in terms of
top tier finishing Streng does offer a more rounded skillset.
Whether that makes any difference to anything is for someone
smarter to decide but for now the Dragons are clinging on to
hope.
So in summary
This is going to be a massacre.... 541 D and even then it might
not matter! On paper there is no team in the division, not even
top placed Escocia's or 2nd placed Cockrells, that can match the
Eagles in terms of skill. Pray for us please...

[move][glow=red,2,300]Highland Rangers vs Helsinki
Hellhounds[/glow][/move]
Overview
A resurgent Highland face a faltering Helsinki side in a
fascinating clash this weekend. Under Matt's leadership Highland
are finally living up to their potential and whilst Helsinki
have had some challenges in 2024, they will still be confident
of pushing for a top three finish. Lots to play for in this one.
Team news
Highland will be a little light in midfield with both Dunst and
Hayes missing through suspension. Is Matt sending his players
out with too much emphasis on getting after the opposition?
Helsinki have a fully fit squad to choose from, but also have
well publicised issues regarding minute requirements for a
couple of their players. Expect new signings Belisarius and
Patrobe to play the whole game.
Form guide
Helsinki Hellhounds WWWWLD (league form)
Two without a win, or one without defeat. Either way, its 1
point from the last six and the club needs to get back to
winning ways promptly.
Highland Rangers DLLLWW (league form)
Highland's form is basically the opposite of Helsinki's form!
They have turned their form on its head and now have back to
back wins!
Players to watch
Steve Bowen looks to be a future star, his duel with Kiss and
Harrisjones will be key for Highland.
Helsinki insiders have tipped Tanaka for a big game after a fine
week in training. Patrobe is also tipped to impress on debut.
Manager's mouthful
"We've got new faces in this week and have freshened the squad
and the starting XI up. Unfortunately that means a couple need
to drop out of the starting XI but we know it is a squad game
and its about the team as a whole.
"We have put a lot of effort in on the training pitch this week.
We've worked on our shape and how best to counter what Highland
have to offer to the game. I'm confident that the boys are ready
to take the game to them and get our promotion aims back on
track."

Its been a rough couple of weeks for Golden Eagles FC, after
being dumped out of both cups at the quarter final stage, the
3-8 aggregate defeat to Rael Nerrad no doubt stings the most. On
the flip side, they can concentrate fully on the Division 2
title race. They face a Nikara Dragons at home tomorrow (who
they have played 4 times already, once in the league, twice in
the league cup and a friendly, winning 3 and drawing 1) and they
will be hoping to get back on track.
The team are looking a little battle weary, which no doubt had
affect during their 1-3 defeat this past Wednesday, so there
will be some switching around no doubt. Domenic Torcaso is
suspended for 2 games (again) after picking up 24 DPs (manager
Dave Rosewell has already voiced his opinion about the overly
harsh Disciplinary points system) and either Danik Marashko or
Taavi Ruusumäki will take his place. Former Dragons defender,
Kai Matsumoto is back in the starting line up, as Eagles revert
back to 4 defenders. Loanee signing, Ando Rachveli could make an
appearance off the bench, while Angelo Nazari starts in place of
Min So Jouy, as Eagles rotate their tired players.
Dragons are missing English prospect G. Rutter, who got sent off
last week. However, they still have a decent strike force with
Hantori Hanzo and Anders Streng leading their attack. Former
Eagles Players Oscar Marconato and Anders Limt will also be
facing their old club for the first time.
Eagles have 6 game left to try and capture top spot, they sit 5
points behind Robbaillie Escocia who play AFC Coventry away.
Meanwhile their closest rivals Cockney Cockrells (who are 3
points ahead in 2nd) face Thames Ironworks away and Helsinki
Hellhounds (who are 4th, level on points with Eagles) face a
resurgent Highland Rangers, also away. On paper, it seems that
Hellhounds possibly have the toughest test, but who knows in
this game.
"We have taken a beating these past few weeks, the number of
games has gotten a bit too much for the lads. Its also been
disheartening to suffer some of our biggest defeats of the
season, we have shipped far too many goals in the past 3 or 4
games. Tomorrow's match will be about getting our season back on
track and fixing the issues we have at the back."

United 1908 face close rivals Sky Blues away in week 17 of
Division 2 and a win for either team could seem them push closer
to a play off spot. However, needing to make up a 10 point gap
in 6 games will be a tall order. Last week, United thrashed
promotion hopefuls AFC Coventry 5-0, while the Blues got
hammered by Cockney Cockrells 1-5. Those results saw the teams
draw level on 17 points a piece and reduce the goal difference
between them to 7 goals.
United are at full strength with Ioane Gordeli returning from
suspension and B. Ivakhiv has managed to shake off a minor
injury. With the games ticking down, both player will feature,
to ensure they make their minutes for the season. Blues on the
other hand are missing star striker Dion Dublin and Colombian
defender Halo Mendez through suspension.
"A draw, a win, 5 goals and 2 clean sheets in 2 games has been a
great boost for morale, will be hoping for a good result again
tomorrow for sure."

Sarnians vs Sunset Knights
After a full week of training we put out a number of youngsters
for the home visit of Knights.
Odysseus Sol starts in midfield as do Staggs and Esteboso with
Próximo making a rare start.
Tuipers plays in defence to make it 5 teenagers in the starting
eleven. Only Ady Sanders is rested from the match day squad with
the cup in midweek coming into view on the horizon.

We have got to within three points of the leaders Rael Nerrard
and we ant to keep the pressure up on them, but we also have
another important match midweek when we face Mancester in the
semi final of the cup. So we might again risk multiple changes
even although we nearly messed up during the last midweek game
losing 2-0 with a three goal safety net. So expect to see more
changes as we try get through a very busy and competitive time
ahead and provide the club and players with the best chance of
success.[/font]
