The Nikara Dragons are looking to bounce back from a
disappointing 1-0 loss to Robbailie Escocia's as they return to
Sinegard Stadium this coming weekend. The have a tough fixture
against the Kingfisher Dolphins who gave a good old fashion
thrashing to Helsinki last week.
What does the league table say?
#7th placed Nikara going up against #5 Kingfisher implies a
fairly close match especially in the cauldron of the Sinegard
Stadium where 60,000 fans will be making for a very
uncomfortable environment. A closer look suggests the gap might
be more significant than just position however as the Kingfisher
Dolphins have 5 more points and are just 3 points off 3rd place.
The Dragons have 21 points which means they are currently locked
into the 6th or 7th spot, though no doubt the 8th placed Sky
Blues will be gunning for that spot, especially after dropping
£120m on a top tier midfielder!
The league table suggests the Dolphins can be a bit all of
nothing with 33 goals scored (6 more than the Dragons) but
having conceded 36 (almost the most in the league). Nikara are
much tamer with 27 goals scored against 22 conceded - all a bit
boring.
Who's the form team?
It's impossible to not notice the Kingfisher result at the
weekend as they thrashed the league's form team (Helsinki
Hellpuppies) 4-1. The result was no fluke, they were good value
for the win dominating possession, shots on goal and shots on
target. What is confusing is that this result came off the back
of a 5-1 loss to the 10th placed Thames Ironworks though in
fairness they did have 2 players sent off. Just to shake matters
up more the week 13 game saw the Dolphins secure a 3-0 win over
the Highland Rangers.
Nikara have been much duller and are coming off the back of
their first loss in 4 games. They have gained 5 points in the
last 4 games with just 1 win and 2 draws. Net goal difference
over these 4 games is 0 so basically the exact opposite of
Kingfisher.
So what does all this mean? Maybe a 4-0 Dolphins win or maybe a
1-1 bore draw.
Who are the players of note?
Kingfisher definitely have a clear advantage at the back with a
superior goalkeeper (17-16) and three defenders that are all
better than the Dragons first 3. You could make a very valid
argument that all of the Dolphins back four are better than the
Dragons (15/15/15/14 vs 14/14/13/13).
In midfield it's basically all even with both teams having a
13/15/13 midfielder leading the way and then a slew of 14 rated
passers. Hard to imagine the game will be won or lost in this
area given this similarity though perhaps its an opportunity for
someone to show that numbers aren't everything (except in this
game where they literally are everything).
Up front Nikara get Hanzo back from injury and having recently
been made captain he now sits at 16 rated. It's likely he'll
partner with Streng who leads the team in goals scored and is 14
rated. Kingfisher have 16 goal hero Harvey Adkins who has scored
more than Hanzo and Streng put together though at 14 rated would
appear on paper to be less talented. Paco Chia is injured so
won't feature which might give an opportunity to Gastro Huahm or
they might double down in midfield. On paper the edge goes to
the Dragons though as noted above Adkins is beyond prolific
which is clearly far more valuable to the result
What does all this mean?
Who knows? Kingfisher have the ability to thrash anybody on
their day but also have lacked consistency whilst Nikara are
dull but steady. Maybe the football gods have something special
planned or maybe they are too busy watching Rael Nerrad smash
Wolves.

[move][glow=red,2,300]Helsinki Hellhounds vs Golden
Eagles[/glow][/move]
Overview
Big big game at the top end of the table, and one which may go a
long way to deciding which of these two clubs will claim an
automatic promotion spot come end of the season. The games are
reducing quickly and there are only three automatic spots
available.
Going into the game both clubs are level on points but the
Eagles have the far superior goals difference. Whoever wins it
will definitely be in the top 3, but the sensible money is
probably on a draw as neither club will want to lose this one.
Team news
Helsinki have a fully fit and available squad with no injury or
suspension concerns and expect all players to be well rested
after no mid week cup game.
Eagles got through their midweek cup defeat without suffering
any injuries or suspensions and avoided a draining extra time.
Their midfield looks a little tired, but they have the skills
and depth to cope with that.
Form guide
Helsinki Hellhounds WWWWWL (league form)
The perfect record has gone, its two defeats from two in all
competitions. Is this start of a poor patch of form for the
Helsinki Hellhounds? We hope not!
Golden Eagles WDWDWW (league form)
Unbeaten in their last six and four wins to show during that
time. Definitely promotion form and you can see why this Div One
standard squad is competing at the top end of the table.
Players to watch
Bourrin is their stand out star, but 17 goals forwards
Chernyshev and Goisthlt will have top scorer in the league in
their sights and will be out to impress.
Laszlo Kiss - surely the poor run has to end at some point??
Manager's mouthful
"Full strength, fully fit, the lads have trained well for this
week. We have a dastardly plan for the Eagles and we hope that
it works. Its clear that the tactics have been a bit off in
recent weeks and we'll aim to put that right on the pitch come
Saturday evening. The boys know what is at stake for this one
and we're looking forward to the challenge and hopefully
climbing back into the top three. Just 7 games and 21 points
left to play for now."

Darlington All Stars
we sit in 2nd place 3 points from the team at the top so its a
game we cant afford to lose everyone is available but i will
have to rotate due to fitness issues hopefully who ever i pick
we play well and get at least a point but to stay in contention
a win would be better

Big match for Golden Eagles FC this weekend and they will be
desperate to bounce back from their 2-5 drubbing in mid-week
from Rael Nerrad. It won't be an easy task however, as they will
face Helsinki Hellhounds in a Finnish derby. The crowd at
Helvetin Stadion are bound to make things hostile for the
visitors, but Eagles players and fans won't be easily
intimidated. It looks to be a chilly night, with temperatures
around -6°c.
Both teams are at full strength with no suspensions or injury
worries. Kai Matsumoto keeps his place in the starting line up,
despite a quiet debut in the game in the League Cup defeat.
Pavel Chernyshev returns to the starting line-up, having being
rested for much of the mid week game, Domenic Torcaso will also
start, as Taavi Ruusumäki drops to the bench. However, it is
currently unknown if Angelo Nazari or Alessio Kovacic will be
dropped in favour of Chernyshev's.
Eagles are unbeaten in their last 6 league games and currently
on their best run with 4 wins and 2 draws, both draws coming
against Robbailie Escocia and Cockney Cockrells. While
Hellhound's winning streak came to an end last weekend, losing
1-4 away to Kingfisher Dolphins.
This game could be a case of the unmovable object against the
unstoppable force; Eagles have only conceded 13 goals in the
league so far, while Hellhounds have leaked 24, the latter have
scored 40 goals, but Eagles ain't no slouches going forwards
either with 36 goals themselves.
"The is a crunch game for sure, the lads are hungry and are
desperate to make it up to the fans after a couple of poor
results in the cup competitions. A win against Hellhounds would
give our title hopes a huge boost, while defeat will really dent
our hopes. We have to be solid at the back and show no mercy
when going forwards!"

United 1908 will be hoping to follow up their away draw and
clean sheet against Eastern Whirlwinds last week with a good
result against promotion hopefuls AFC Coventry. Coventry sit 6th
3 points off a play-off spot, so it won't be an easy task. A win
for United could see them draw level on points with Sky Blues,
depending on how they do against Cockney Cockrells.
United are missing Ioane Gordeli through suspension and B.
Ivakhiv is out with an injury. It looks likely that M. Kozdoba
and Psotos Illyte will both be starting, as Artem Kolinko drops
to the bench. Meanwhile in defence, Bohdan Kidruk looks to be
taking Gordeli's place. Meanwhile AFC Coventry don't have any
missing players.
"We feel good going into this game and the lads well rested with
no cup game in mid week. We are hopeful of a good result and I
am confidant of a positive result seeing the players performance
at the training ground this week."

Pompey Chimes vs Sarnians
Being out of the league cup has some advantages, we have (albeit
a couple of absentees) a fully fit squad, and we bring back a
few experienced faces for the tricky away trip along the south
coast.
Man of the match Esteboso keeps his place and Raffi Karrar
replaces Minerva up front.

Highland Rangers will be looking for there second win of the
season as the visit Thames Ironworks. Following on from there
first win of the season last week will they make any changes to
three winning team as the manager will have young defender Bowen
fit again or will he stay with the team t Saha won last week.
We caught up with the manager as the team were leaving there
hotel earlier today. He said the team are in good spirts after
getting the win last week. He said it was good to have a fully
fit squad and both players that have returned this week have
performed well in training and a pushing for a return to action.
We will have to take into account that some of the players have
had a busy few last weeks and some squad rotation will have to
take place as it is important to allow players to pick up
injuries at this part of the season due to being a little off
the pace.
He also said that now the strikers have managed to find the net
he hopes this will be the boost to there confidence that they
required.
