Hellhound howler: New Rules be Kool
it's not often that the manager dishes out praise outside of the
club, but today is one of those rare occasions where the manager
has sought to heap praise on the powers that be.
       "A great step forward"
       "Pragmatic, clear solutions"
       "Some surprises"
Players can stay if they miss their minutes
A neat solution to the problem. Players deteriorate if they miss
their minutes targets. Stack your squads are your peril. Sure,
sounds great to have 20 players with 16/17 skills, but do that
and some of them will be slipping down in quality when they miss
       their minutes targets.
       Limits for top players
Life was easy for the league's best players. That is about to
end. More media abs for making additions, training costs much
much more, higher minutes targets. Less of a bonus through
excess minutes where minute targets are exceeded. This will stop
those players running away and that can only be good for the
league (albeit not great for Helsinki)
       Harsh hand for issues
25 million fines for not having 16 fit players.
50% tax on balances over a certain amount.
These are issues not to be trifled with and clubs will need to
       beware.
       Revised transfer guidance
Its better than the old guidance and hopefully allows for some
judgement to be used. Clearly though a 29 year old 17 rater is
not worth the same as a 20 year old 17 rater, so some common
sense will need to prevail, but it gives a good starting point,
especially when trading players of a similar age.
Loans remain - but excess minutes ruling may kill them
Loans are probably most of interest for farming out younger
players in need of game time. But with any excess minutes going
to the loaning club and not the player, this may remove all of
the upside for the parent club who miss out on valuable
additional growth for their player and may instead opt to keep
the player. Perhaps a 50:50 split would have seen the option
used to the benefit of both clubs. I suspect very few loans will
happen in light of that stipulation

       Hellhound howler stat attack!!!!
Let’s take a look at the numbers from Helsinki’s league form
       since Nettleship took charge.
       Games played 13
       Wins 9
       Draws 2
       Defeats 2
Goals scored 49 ?!?! (Yes. I’ve double checked that 😅)
       Goals per game 3.8
       Goals against 27
       Goals against per game 2.1
       Best victory 9 - 0 vs United 1908
Worst result 4 - 1 defeat to Kingfisher
Biggest regret 2 - 2 draw in week 18 which potentially cost us
the title despite out shooting opponents 31 shots to 9. Ouch!
Number of different goal scorers in final squad 11
Number of assistees in final squad 12
Top DF Reece Evans with 51 tackles, 8 goals and 10 assists
Top MF DeDavis Roy with 65 passes, 11 goals and 8 assists
Top FW Kiss with 23 goals from 131 shots
Current squad 615 shots and 91 goals - a goal every 6.75 shots
(roughly 27 shots to score 4 goals)
Since taking over the record is fantastic. The points tally is
better than any club in the division and the attractive
attacking brand of football has had neutrals tuning in to watch
       the goals fly in!

       Hellhound howler: Squad changes
Just for fun the howler looks at the fantastic work the club has
done during the season to improve the squad from when the new
manager took over in week 9 to where it stands in week 22.
Club statement: We have done so much more than just deliver on
the pitch this season, we have also been able to significantly
improve the playing squad and grow the club's stadium by 20,000
seats. All in all it has been a fantastic season.

       Hellhound Howler: Heeeeeeee's back!!!
To huge fanfare and a delirious crowd numbering in the 10s,
season 3 manager Steve N was unveiled as the returning manager
of Helsinki Hellhounds. After a hiatus during much of 2024 where
it is understood the manager decided to take some time away from
the game, get a little plastic surgery, work a little on his
Chi, the manager is back and excited to pick up where he left
       off.
"The bug for management never leaves you. I'm feeling refreshed,
ready to take on a new challenge of managing in the top flight
and looking to help develop some of our youngest talent. I'm
excited to get back working with the squad in pre season and
ensuring everything is ship shape for the start of the new
       season.
"The back room staff and I have been looking at some new
innovative approaches to in game tactics, so we'll be looking to
cause a stir in the league and maybe upset the odds despite not
having the strongest squad in the league. We'll of course look
to strengthen where we can, but we think we have a decent amount
of quality. With players ageing every season now we know that
the youngsters might not have the same level of quality when
they hit their 20s that they might have had before."
So there we have it, the manager is back. There is a new sense
of optimism around the club. The club also wished to go on
record to thank Dan for his management over the past season and
wish him all the best with his new club."

       Hellhound Howler: Auction fever
Auction fever has slowly but over the past 48 hours as clubs
peruse the Auction lists, plan their strategies and submit what
they hope is a winning bid for their chosen enhancements and
       players.
So what might we expect come the deadline for the first round...
Prediction: at least one enhancement to go begging. It seems
improbable but will many managers decide to plump for the same
enhancement and leave a bargain on the table?
Prediction: 2800 abs to cost the most of all Auction items. It's
the clear winner and the most coveted prize. But stranger have
things have happened and it's not impossible that 1800 abs could
go for more if it's assumed one of the richer clubs will pick up
       the big prize.
Prediction: Top MF as the only 17 skiller may get a high number
of bids and go for a decent sum of money
All eyes will be on the announcement from bossman Darren later
       this evening!!

       Hellhound howler: Excitement builds
The Wildlife Trust pre season tournament is just a couple of
days away from commencing. Santa Darren is busy implementing all
those generous Christmas gifts and club's squads are taking
shape nicely ahead of the new season. This article takes a quick
look at Helsinki and how the club is shaping up.
       Squad & signings
The club's immediate priority in pre season was to secure a
midfield general who would be at the heart of everything the
club does. They managed to snag a deal for Shynkarenko who
returns to the club for Yakuza after one season. He may not
quite be in the elite with the likes of Bourrin or Marcento but
he is a high class operator and will be the club's number one
starter in that position for the season ahead.
Raffi Kaffar and Harrisjones are also welcomed back up front in
what is a youthful front line. Tallehasse has been signed from
Nerrad to add some depth and experience of challenging at the
       right end of the league.
       Was Santa generous?
Prochazka was the main beneficiary seeing skills boosted to a 16
main skill which can be competitive enough to be a starter in
the top flight. Midfielders including Shnykarenko will benefit
from some additional shooting skills. Maeta has also been
re-trained as a midfielder to further boost a relatively week
midfield offering. All in all, Santa was considered very
generous and that is with the day 8 gift to come!
       Auction failure?
The club's heirachy admit that they got it wrong in the pre
season auction. They tried to play it cute and got burned,
missing out on any enhancements. The only saving grace is that
Denke was picked up at a bargain price - although they did miss
out on an even better player who went begging in round 1.
       Expectations for the season ahead?
11th last time out was considered a slight under performance by
the club. They may struggle to compete with the likes of Yazuka,
Eagles, Sarnians and Nerrad based on skills alone so will need
tactical genius if they are to mount a serious challenge for any
trophy. But Darlington incredibly showed what is possible last
season and anyone can beat anyone on any given day! That being
said, the clubs' Board are believed to be targetting a top 6
finish. Anything less than 6th or 7th would be considered
       sub-par.

       Hellhound howler: Loan wolf
The Hellhounds have taken the decision to send Daaviski out on
loan as the young newly scouted hellraiser has a chunky minutes
requirement and is relatively low down the pecking order at
Helsinki. The player is definitely one for the future at the
club. He's off to Cartagena where he will bolster their
defensive ranks as they look to potentially mount a challenge in
       Division 2.
Its never easy to know whether to loan a player out but it is
hoped he can help Cartagena out and do a bit of development at
the same time. The main negative is that 50% of any excess
minutes will go to Cartagena - although that is a clear positive
for them. Having conceded 5 in their first wildlife trust game,
the Cartagena fans are hoping the player will be able to join
soon although insiders understand he may not be able to complete
the loan deal until at least after the group stage, and possibly
       later.
In other transfer news, things have settled down a bit for
Helsinki with the squad looking pretty well set. There is
rumblings that they might try to downgrade one or two of the
bench players who might struggle to hit minutes and would be
highly valued by club's elsewhere. But as of yet nothing in the
pipeline or is decided it is understood.

Hellhound Howler: Lack of home comforts
If you don't shoot you don't score, so goes the old adage. Well
its true in part, but it's not the whole story when it comes to
Hellsinki home games this season. Despite out shooting their
opponents by at least 12 shots in every home game, they have
only won 1 from 5 games.
Stat attack - first number is shots, number in brackets is
       goals.
       Week 1 38 (4) vs 24 (6) LOSS
       Week 4 17 (0) vs 5 (3) LOSS
       Week 6 25 (6) vs 13 (1) WIN
       Week 8 34 (3) vs 10 (3) DRAW
       Week 9 31 (5) vs 13 (5) DRAW
Helsinki: 145 shots (18 goals) 8.1 shots per goal 12.4%
       conversion
Opponents: 65 shots (18 goals) 3.6 shots per goal 27.7%
       conversion
'Average' match 29 shots (3.6 goals) vs 13 shots (3.6 goals)
The manager is said to be happy with how they are playing and
reflective of the fact his squad lacks a star striker having
placed their faith in Karrar a 17 shooter and HarrisJones at 15
shooter. They know their will be brighter days ahead, but for
now their opponents know that an open game favours them as
Helsinki at home are struggling to hit the back of the net!

       Hellhound howler: Round up!
       Media points return - hurrah!
Good news is that there is an incentive to write about your
clubs' fortunes, that can only be a good thing to encourage
participation and at a decent 100 mins for a couple of minutes
work it will hopefully encourage managers to drop a few thoughts
into pre and post match sections. It also gives an insight into
       some managers' psyches!
       So Karrar, so good
Earlier in the season we reported on the failure of the club's
players to hit the back of the net. Shynkarenko took over 40
shots to hit the back of the net but now has 4 goals from 70
shots. HarrisJones has improved too to have 8 goals but it is
clear that Raffi Karrar is critical to the club having hit an
impressive 14 goals despite his young age and not being regarded
as a top tier forward yet. The club hopes he'll continue his
improved form and hopefully nudge up above 20 later in the
       season.
       Builders not invited
Despite recent building works having been completed, the club
hasn't authorised further development of the clubs stadium. They
are reviewing the firm contracted for the works as they are the
same firm working on Sarnians stadium which has been hit by
       numerous overruns.

       Hellhound howler: round up!
       League form
The fans had a couple of victories to cheer recently after a
series of defeats. The latest was a comfortable 5 - 0 stomping
of relegation threatened Acorn which will act as the perfect
confidence booster before we head into the knock out two legged
Xbox match next. Realistically we are playing for pride in the
league with the top three put of sight and being comfortably
       above relegation.
       Cup comforts
The club are proudly still in both cups having successfully
navigated a tough home tie against Sarnians in the last round
and made it through the group stages of the Xbox cup. They await
their opponents in the EA sports cup for the quarter finals and
face Tranmere in the league cup. Can they keep the cup run going
       for the fans?
       Hurrah for Karrar!
Since the last article he's hit a purple patch of form and wr
believe he may now sit top of the goalscoring charts with 18
goals. He's got fantastic midfield players like Maeta to thank
for that - he's got an impressive 67 key passes this season,
could he hit a century? HarrisJones is now up to 10 in the
league and 16 sh which will help. Shynkarenko continues to be
proliferate in front of goal with just 5 goals from 90 shots.
       Eeek
