Season 4
Well it turned out to be our busiest close season ever! It was
sparked by the celebrations after winning the EA cup settled
down. We looked at our rivals in Kyushu Yakuza and Golden Eagles
and there was a definite gap and so the largest transfer program
in our history was undertaken.
Raffi Karrar and Ady Sanders were sold to Helsinki Hellhounds,
only for them to long term admirer Steve N for a very pretty
penny, only for them to be sold on for far less to rivals in
advanced of a rather unceremonious decision to leave the game.
While I will welcome any manger back to the game there will be
not further deals made between myself and Steve as those
decisions do not sit right.
But moving forwards, and speaking of forwards the arrival of
Laszlo Kiss marks a distinct up turn in starting line up
quality, he has been on fire in pre season and has taken the
captains armband as a result.
In midfield Guam Honest was signed from Kingfisher Dolphins and
has been a great foil at number 11, and also started well. Boss
Tanaka followed and he has been playing at number 10
In defence Belisarius and Roger Davies came in and this brought
the starting line up to almost 16+ across the board and the
auction purchase of Reio Feugo made this dream a reality.
So the competition for the league has an extra horse in the
running and 80,000 fans on home matches cheering us on.

So with some time to reflect on the season so far here is our
self assessment for the fans (and the haters :D)
THE PLAYERS
Sometimes the captains armband can be a burden, but the pressure
has brought absolute focus to Laszlo Kiss, he has excelled for
us this season and thrived in the role, he scored 8 goals in pre
season and has a further 9 in full appearances which is an
exceptional record and setting a great example for the 16 and 17
year old Shallahs and Proximo. The sale of Karrar was a
controversial one at the time but now looks like an excellent
piece of business.
Following closely behind is Guam Honest, the Nigerian also in
wonderful goal scoring form with 7 in pre season and 6 more
since, he looks born to play in the number 10 shirt and has been
instrumental in our results this season so far.
In terms of the development players, Ember Tuipers is rapidly
establishing himself ahead of Genge as first choice cover, the
young Dutchman recording 11 key tackles to place him ahead of
first team options with less than half the game time. He is set
to feature more and more for us in the league.
Eddie Staggs is also showing some real pedigree, as an all
around box to box midfielder and only Fuego has recorded more
key passes and Ajak alone has more key tackles, he is still a
rough diamond but is a fan favourite!
THE RESULTS
We were again denied the Samsung Shield, a 4-4 result to Nerrad
saw them take the opening trophy of the year taken by a penalty
shoot out. The league cup group stage is going well, and the
development side has us placed in second at the halfway stage
and qualification is seen as a minimum, but this will require 2
wins at least to be assured. We had a bye in the first round of
the cup and the league form seems to have returned and we sit
second in the league at present and the best satisfaction has
come from our defence which was horrendous last season but has
been much improved by the additions of Belisaurus and Davies.
INFRASTRUCTURE
The coffers are stable and with £135m in the bank we have the
ability to respond if the opportunity to buy comes along. The
80,000 seats at Deadmans Alley are constantly sold out, but
their are no plans to develop the ground further at this stage
so that attendances are not reduced.

So after season four and our first campaign without a trophy,
it’s been a long pre season as we look to make small changes,
and keep our defence and attacking shape, but add that little
bit of additional focus and ruthlessness to our game. The
auction purchase of 2800 abs is a big show off faith in the
existing squad, and at the first pre season press conference
Skittles announced that Deadmans Alley will be expanded to
85,000 and two new kits were launched, with a variation on the
black and white hoops.

Season 5 mid term report.
It’s been a really promising first half of the season, we set
out with the aim of evolution rather than revolution and this
has very much been the case. We’ve juggled the squad well across
the three competitions and are still in all 3 as it stands.
Laszlo Kiss has led the line and the team, netting 17 goals so
far, and still remaining a world class number 9.
But there is only one man on everyone’s radar…. Codi Domino the
17 year old midfielder is having his breakout season, 12 goals
and the number 10 shirt is very much his. There have been a
steady stream of enquiries and offers which have ranged from the
sublime to the ridiculous but all have been rejected out of hand
and he is too in love with the lazy Nothing Devon way of life to
ever move on.
The youth program continues to blossom, 7 other teenagers are
keeping the starting 11 on their toes, and Ember Tuipers may
well be eyeing up a full back role next season.
We’ve enjoyed our football, and the way players have slotted in
and out of the side so seamlessly and we’ve continued to play an
attractive and attacking game.
Come on the Sarnians!
