A very frustrating afternoon for Eagles away to Thames
Ironworks, as they were held to a 0-0 draw, despite having the
ball in the back of the net twice! First of all, a lovely long
ball Taavi Ruusumäki in the 6th minute found Pavel Chernyshev in
bags of space. The Russian buried the shot, but the goal didn't
count as he was in an offside position. Then in the 66th minute
Chernyshev punished T. Taylor for his lack of awareness and
drove the ball home, only for that to be ruled offside also!
Manager Dave Rosewell was furious at the ref, video replays
after the match clearly show the striker was onside!
Of course these weren't the only moments of drama, Dutchman Eric
Van Oist limped off after only 26 minutes with a twisted ankle.
2 minutes later, Artem Poltorak was shown a straight red for
taking down David Newman as he was clear through on goal. Eagles
numbers disadvantage lasted only a few minutes however, as Ray
Stewart was also shown a red card for a really nasty challenge
on Ruusumäki.
Eagles also found reserve keeper Agar Lazarus in fine form, who
made 8 curial saves, many of those against Chernyshev. The
Russian striker was awarded the Man of the Match, but it was
little consolation, as it was more of a case of 2 points
dropped, rather than 1 point gained. Dave Rosewell commented on
the ref's performance after the match, but it can't be repeated
here, no doubt that will land him in hot water with the OFMC FA.

superb 2nd half performance from the lads after being frustrated
i nthe 1st half cantona finally scored just after the hour mark
then we scored another 3 with sub van the man scoring 2 great
start to the season as my players keep improving every game how
long can we keep this up for

Helsinki Hellhounds' first home match in Finland saw them
fighter out an enterianing 3-3 draw as they hosted Kingfisher
Dolphins. Hellhounds had a lot of new names taking to the field
and they were keen to prove themselves. Although there is a good
chance Dave Rosewell isn't happy about them letting a 2 goal
lead slip in the last 15 or so minutes!
The first half was end to end, both chances creating good
chances, but the deadlock wasn't broken until the 58th minute.
Dolphins drew first blood through Peter Everest. Hellhounds
thought they had equalised through Captain Tore Isaksen 6
minutes later, but the Norwegian's goal was ruled out for
reasons unknown. Irate assistant manager, Dieter Höth
remonstrated with the ref, only for him to be sent to the
stands! However, the home side did draw level in the 67th minute
when Dolphin's Zarzant Kosh played a back pass to his keeper,
only for U. Spellmann to slip and the ball rolled over the line!
Hellhounds then took the lead a minute later, Tore Isaksen
finally getting on the score sheet. Japanese midfielder Kai
Jilloppi extended their lead in the 71st minute, taking the
score to 3-1. Guam Honest halved the deficit with an overhead
kick in the 78th minute to set up a grandstand finish.
Hellhounds were minutes from claiming a win, only for C.
Willcordy to spoil their party 2 minutes from time in what was a
breathless last 30 minutes. Filipino wizkid - Angelo Nazari was
awarded man of the match, despite only playing 30 minutes, the
versatile midfielder really added some spark to the homeside.

Darlington All Stars 0-2 Sarnians
A really good result here, away from home and playing 20 minutes
with ten men, and yet a solid victory and assured performance.
Onto the league cup now and a chance to rotate a little.
