Golden Eagles FC make it 2 for 2 in pre-season friendlies, with
a hard fought 2-1 victory against Nikara Dragons. Russian foward
Pavel Chernyshev opened the scoring in the 7th minute after
latching on to Min So Jouy's long pass. Dragons levelled the
score when Jiang Zuya'a header was judged to have crossed the
line. Eagles then re-took the lead 4 minutes into first half
stoppage time with South Korean Min So Jouy turning provider
with another long pass. Defender Jiang Zuya slipped, which
allowed Serbian striker Milos Potkozarač to capitalise with
a delicate chip over the helpless Hiro Hikkara. The score then
stayed the same despite some end to end football in the second
half and chances for both sides, the 2 keepers certainly had
their work cut out for them. It was a some what a scrappy affair
with 6 players being booked (2 Eagles and 4 Dragons), far from
"friendly".
After the game, Min So Jouy was named man of the match, the
defensive midfielder commanded the midfield and provided 2
assists.
"The team played well yet again, as we tried a different
formation and gave some other players a chance to prove
themselves. Again we created a lot of chances and the lads are
looking sharp." Commented Dave Rosewell in the post-match press
conference.
