Sarnians 0 - 1 AFC Coventry
We managed to get away with a great result here, despite the
squad being much lower rated and a whole heap of pressure from
our hosts throughout. Oh and throw in a late red card for us to
make it even more chaotic! We had to defend well for large
periods of this game, and we took our chance when it fell and
came away with a big win. One point I would like to make early
on is that I read the Sarnians player Belisarius as Beli-saurus
(like a dinosaur) so everytime he made a tackle or featured in
the match report, it made me chuckle... anyway onto the game...
Our chance came very early on, and sometimes you worry that
going ahead too early against a stronger team invites more
pressure. However, Roland Nilsson got to the byline and crossed
for Mustapha Hadji to score. Hadji, much like his time at
Highfield Road in real life, has been a really pivotal part of
our team this season and he deserved his goal. Saves from both
keepers kept the game tight, but it was an anxious read the
further I scrolled down the page! Kiss and Tanaka had good
attempts well saved by Steve Ogrizovic and we were hanging on.
We still managed to create a few chances ourselves, with their
keeper keeping out Hadji and Jack Daniels before the break.
The second half unfolded in very much the same way, with
Sarnians pushing us back and asking some big questions of our
backline. They managed 15 attempts on goal to our 9, but we
managed to keep a cleansheet due to Oggy being a one man brick
wall in goal. Michael Doyle will be one of the players who needs
to buy Oggy a drink after this one as he saw himself sent off
after 70 minutes, meaning an even bigger shift was needed to
keep Sarnians at bay for the last 20 minutes or so. They had so
many chances, and Tuipers looked to have levelled but his effort
hit the post, before we ourselves hit the woodwork as Nilsson's
shot cannoned off the bar onto the line. The assistant said no,
but it definitely looked as though it had crossed the line.
No doubt who are player of the match was, big Oggy kept
everything out this game and he was huge for us once again.
We've started well with three wins from our first five games,
and it's certainly leaps ahead of where I expected us to be in a
very tough league. Good game Skittles, your side performed so
well!

Arctic 2 - 2 Helsinki
Come the end of the season we might well view this as a point
gained rather than two points lost. Going 2 - 1 down on 79
minutes, a point is definitely a good result.
Overall the game was pretty even with Helsinki shading the
chances by 31 shots to 25 with 18 to 15 on target. Ahead on the
stats, but only marginally so. Helsinki had the better of the
first half, consistently knocking on the door but didn't get
their nose in front until 46 minutes when HarrisJones got on the
scoresheet for the second game in a row. The joy was short lived
as Arctic threw caution to the wind and equalised immediately.
Then they went ahead and it was left until injury time for
Prochazka to find the equaliser.
Prochazka will count himself unlucky not to get the M O T M
award given he had 4 tackles, 1 key pass, 4 shots and a goal but
somehow the nod was given to Stewart from Arctic. In one other
positive they remain unbeaten in the league, but that could all
change with Nerrad up next!

Thames Ironworks 4-0 Celtic Warriors
The Ironworks came out on top with a comfortable 4-0 win over
Celtic Warriors at the Boleyn Ground. With just a few chances
for either side it was all level 0-0 at half time and what was
going to happen in the second half you wouldn't have expected
after the drab first half.
It started with an own goal to give Thames the lead then
midfielder Esparragurza made it 2 nil, his sixth of the season
and then on they controlled the game. Next up was defender Ramos
hitting the third and his third of the season and rounded off by
striker Newman to finish a wild second half.
This win left Thames in fifth place along with a queue of other
sides making it quite competitive in the second division.

[center]YAKUZA AND EAGLES SHARE SPOILS IN EIGHT GOAL
THRILLER[/center]
[center]Kyushu Yakuza 4-4 Golden Eagles FC[/center]
What a game this was with both sides giving absolutely
everything in a thrilling match, Eagles did particularly well to
come away with a point after playing half the game with only 10
men. Eagles scored two early quick-fire goals, first Darío
Bourrin scored in the 14th minute from Diog Guillems’ lay off.
The Portuguese attacking midfielder then got a goal himself a
couple of minute later as he rose above the Yakuza defence to
scoring with a towering header.
Former Eagles player Bryan Prittwick pulled a goal back for the
hosts in the 26th minute, as he and T. Taylor linked up.
Guillems thought he has restored the two-goal advantage, but his
shot hit the underside of the bar, bounced down and was then
caught by the keeper. It looked as though it had gone over the
line, but no goal given! The tables then turned just before
half-time, Taavi Ruusumäki was shown a straight red for holding
Caoimhin Og, which was never a red card in a million years!
Eagles down to 10 men and still half of the game to go!
Yakuza’s captain Rui Hikkara hit his side level in the 57th
minute, there was no way Rafael Alvarado was saving that. And
top scorer Caoimhin Og out the hosts ahead 5 minute later, as
Eagles began to get stretched by being a man down. They did not
give up fighting however, Juan Álvarez swung in a corner in the
72nd minute and the ball was poked home by Steve Bowen! Eagles
back on terms. But Taylor put Yakuza 4-3 up 10 minutes later, as
his shot cannoned in off the post. What drama in this game!
Eagles responded immediately, Steve Bowen ran down the wing and
fed the ball to Angelo Nazari and the Eagles captain rounded
Okuninushi to slot the ball into the back of the net. 4-4! And
Alvarado made a brilliant save right at the death to keep out
Caoimhin Og’s rocket. Eagles remain in second place in the
table, with Hellhounds also drawing. What a fight this is going
to be!

[center]SCIMITARS BLUNTED BY DEVILS[/center]
[center]Shymkent Scimitars 0-0 HNK Dubrovnik Devils[/center]
This was probably the most boring game of the season so far, as
the visitors played super defensively, leaving themselves and
Scimitars with few chances. The only thing of not to happen in
this game, was the injury of the hosts' keeper Adit Abbas who
had to be replaced by understudy Dilshod Ibragimov after 18
minutes. After the match it was reported that the Indonesian
keeper would miss the next couple of matches with an ankle
injury. Aside from that, there wasn't much else to report.
