SEASON 6 REVIEW
Eagles were unable to defend their crown as they, Hellhounds and
Sarnians duked it out during the final several weeks of the
season. It was a close run thing, but alas Eagles were knocked
out of the running with only a couple of weeks remaining as the
gap to top spot became mathematically insurmountable. That left
it down to two and as the dust settled on a blockbuster season,
Sarnians emerged as two time champions. Eagles ended up
finishing in third place on 54 points with 15 wins, 9 draws and
only 2 defeats, scoring 69 goals and conceding 27.However,
Eagles did still have a shot a glory in the XBox League Cup
final, but they lost in heart-breaking fashion against Yakuza,
as former Eagles star Bryan Prittwick scored right at the end of
extra time to deny them their last hope of silverware.
While Eagles might not have picked up any trophies as a team,
Pavel Chernyshev picked up the Golden Boot award with 23 goals,
narrowly beating Julio Xavier who scored 22 himself. Angelo
Nazari won the Eagles player of the season award after having a
brilliant season in the middle of the park scoring 13 times and
providing 6 assists.

SEASON 7 PREVIEW
Lets kick off this preview with what has be causing the biggest
stir so far in the pre-season and that would be Eagles' new home
and away kits. They have caused quite a bit of controversy and
have divided fans opinion as gone are the usual golden yellow
and black stripes, in their place is a lot more minimal design.
Their new Adidas home kit retains its main colours, except now
it is mostly golden yellow with black sleeves/sides and white
detail. While their away kit is now mostly white with red
sleeves/sides and white detail. The main reason for these
changes is due to the fact that player numbers and names were
often difficult to make out against a yellow and black striped
background. The club also wanted to change the look to celebrate
the 5th anniversary or Eagles' reformation as Golden Eagles FC,
some rumours were flying around about the club changing their
name to match their now Finnish roots, but that was quashed by
the board of directors.

PRE-SEASON TRANSFERS
It was somewhat quite on the transfer front, first up Eagles
signed 25 year old Danish attacking midfielder Aksel Mikkelsen
from Flint Tropics with Swedish defender Asp Naslund and
Argentine midfielder Guil Esteboso (along with £20,000,000)
going the other way. Anti Novanic was sold to Hellhounds for
£10,000,000, while Irish keeper Kieran Mane was sold to
non-league for £27,500,000 with Finnish shot stopper Olli
Halainen stepping up to take the back up keeper position.
With manager Dave Rosewell being quite happy with the quality of
the squad and so when the pre-season auction kicked off, Eagles
decide to go with 10% starting minutes for all players. This
meant that each player will now need to play less time during
the season and avoid the possibility of penalties come the end
of the re-extended season. However, it did not come cheaply, as
Eagles paid a staggering £189,000,000. Then as round three
rolled around, Mr Rosewell splashed out another £79,000,000 for
18 year old Finnish attacking midfielder Heikki Hellström, who
has already impressed in the pre-season friendly tournament with
3 goals in 4 games, but more about that later.
Finnish defender Campari Torr departed Eagles, after spending
much of last season on laon to Ironworks and he will join Flint
tropics with 24 year old Polish defender Lwan Niezgoda and
£60,000,000 coming the other way. And lastly Eagles signed
Finnish/Hungarian scout defender Viljami Vertók for a fee of
£48,000,000.

WILDLIFE TROPHY REVIEW
Eagles finished off as top dog in the pre-season Wildlife Trophy
as they ended their pre-season with some silverware (finally)
after beating a resurgent Highland Rangers in the final.
ROUND 1
Eagles 2-0 Celtic Warriors
For their first round game, they were drawn against OFMC new
boys (one of 4 new teams) Celtic Warriors and they certainly
showed a lot of warrior spirit. However, Eagles were still able
to get a 2-0 victory over 10 men Warriors who had Fraser Wolf
sent off, Heikki Hellström scored on his debut with Diog
Guillems getting the second.
ROUND 2
Eagles 6-0 Shews FC
Eagles hit the Division two outfit for six as Julio Xavier,
Heikki Hellström, Steve Bowen and Kai Matsumoto getting a goal
each and Jussi Härmäläinen scored a brace.
ROUND 3
Eagles 4-1 Cockney Cockrells
Another high scoring match, Juan Álvarez grabbed a couple, Pavel
Chernyshev and Diog Guillems got the other two, while Hansu
Yakamin scored for Cockrells.
ROUND 4
Hellhounds 1-3 Eagles
Eagles got a measure of satisfaction against their bitter rivals
in this "friendly clash" in a hostile Helsinki. Long-time
Hellhounds target Darío Bourrin opened the scoring, before Coen
Harris-Jones levelled. Bourrin then scored a second and Pavel
Chernyshev secured the win.
ROUND 5
Eagles 3-2 Highland Rangers
This was probably an even tough game than the one against
Hellhounds, Rangers who struggled last season had beaten
champions Sarnians in the previous round. The visitors took the
lead twice, with Eagles fight back both times Juan Piollo scored
for Rangers, before Heikki Hellström levelled. Then E. Konas
grabbed another goal for the visitors and Diog Guillems pulled
Eagles level again. Then as it looked as though the game would
go to extra time, Juan Álvarez napped the winner in the 87th
minute.
THE TROPHY IN NUMBERS
Eagles won all five of their games, scoring a total of 16 goals
and conceding only 4. Hellström and Guillems were top scorers
with 3 each. Guillems also picked up the most assists with 4 and
key passes with 13, while Bowen made 11 key tackles. A very
impressive pre-season for Eagles and will certainly give them
some positivity as they head into the start of their journey to
become two time champions.

WEEK 4 TRANSFER NEWS
A couple of deals done this week for Eagles, first of all Polish
defender Lwan Niezgoda was sold to Japanese outfit Kyushu Yakuza
for a fee of £57,500,000. Yakuza are under new management and
were after an extra defender following a couple of their own
going out on loan elsewhere. Lastly, Eagles have signed
Uzbekistani defender Jamshid Irmatov on loan from Shymkent
Scimitars to re-bolster their own defence. Irmatov will wear
shirt number 25.
