Golden Eagles FC vs Hartlepool United
Former Division Two winners Eagles, host last season's Division
Two winners Hartlepool United tomorrow evening in a fairly warm
Tampere. Eagles were very impressive in pre-season, winning all
five of their games in the Wildlife Trophy Tournament and no
doubt they will look to carry that forum on. No team news as of
yet from either side, but you can be rest assured that both will
field their strongest squads as they look to be the ones to draw
first blood.
"We had a brilliant pre-season, the lads are in a good head
space, we are going into this season with a different attitude,
more positive attitude. last season we felt the pressure a bit
too much perhaps sometimes. Even though we only lost twice, we
did throw away a couple games that we really should have won and
dropped points that we sorely needed. We're all gas and no
breaks this season." Commented Dave Rosewell in a recent
interview with Match of the Day.

Shymkent Scimitars vs The Real Foxes
Scimitars first test in Division Two will be against the Real
Foxes as they host their first ever OFMC league game at the new
and stunning Shashka Arena in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. They had a
pretty decent pre-season and finished a very respectable 9th
overall where they won 4 and only lost once (on penalties), in
their first game they upset Yakuza 4-3 in Japan, despite playing
50 or so minutes with only 10 men. In the second game they took
Sarnians to penalties, where the champions won the shootout 4-2.
Game three they beat Division One's Reapers 5-4 on penalties. In
their forth game, they beat Pompey Chimes 4-1 and in their final
game they claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Dyer Island
Penguins. Gholizadeh was their most deadly player scoring 3
goals and he'll be heading the Scimitars sword tip, with captain
Rabadán leading from the back. And between them players such as
Madibo and Kianan will be key playmakers.
"We are excited for our first league match in OFMC, this is
where we get to show the world what we are made of." Commented
caretaker manager Dave Rosewell.

Helsinki vs Highland
Here. We. Go. New season, fresh start and we start with a home
game against Highland. After a slow start last season Helsinki
will be hoping to get off to a solid start and get three points
on the board at home. Highland will be hoping to secure an
upset.
Team news: Highland have a full squad to choose from, as do
Helsinki, although they will be saying goodbye to Bok and Jeff
who join Flint on loan and Ackup who is heading to lower league
loans.

Acorns vs Andean Incas
Brand new opposition to start the season for Acorns so it will
be a bit of a lottery! Finishing 30th out of 32 teams in the pre
season tournament will have done nothing to improve confidence
and without a decent striker hope's are low for the new season.
The squad is woefully imbalanced and will be relying on keeping
it tight to win games. New signings Fuego and Zoffenheim will
start and Inca may feature from the bench.

Seven Cellos vs. Shrews FC (Division 2)
Seven Cellos begin their campaign with a loss I mean match
against Shrews FC, who recently performed above their station in
the Wildlife Trophy tournament. New manager Callum refused to
give any details about his strategy for the upcoming tie, as
shrews are known to be master tacticians who would seize on any
hints given.
The combined force of Shrews’ strikers Huwe and Bull are sure to
give the hosts problems however; their impact will need be
quietened if Cellos are to get anything from the game besides
tears and season ticket refund requests.
Though the outlook remains bleak, Cellos' coach was heard
delivering an inspiring team talk to the players ahead of the
game:

Sarnians v Sunset Knights
Dead Man's Alley
Good evening and welcome back to Dead Man's Alley. Ninety
thousand seats, fresh grass, fresh hopes, and a few fresh faces
who are probably wondering whether this place is always quite
this loud. The answer, by the way, is yes. Before anything else,
I want to thank our supporters. Last season we achieved
something no other club has managed by becoming the first team
to win Division One twice. That's a piece of history that
belongs to every player, coach and supporter who has walked this
journey with us.
Now comes the tricky part. Everybody loves talking about
climbing the mountain. Not many people talk about what happens
when you get to the top and realise there's another mountain
right behind it. That's where we are. This squad looks a little
different from the one that lifted the trophy. We've brought in
some exceptional young talent. J_Chalabert arrives with enormous
potential between the posts, while Billy_Gibbons, Simon_Walton
and Damascus_Flux represent the next generation of Sarnians
football.
They're joining a group that still contains the heart and soul
of this club. Players such as J_Kerravinian, Rodger_Davies,
C_Ajak, Kai_Pavlov, Codi_Domino, B_Tanaka and Laszlo_Kiss
understand exactly what it means to wear this shirt and compete
in front of all of you. As for our opponents tonight, Sunset
Knights are exactly the kind of side you don't relish facing on
opening day. They've got quality throughout the squad,
experience in key areas and enough goals in that team to punish
any lapse in concentration. If you take your eye off them for a
second they'll happily remind you why that's a bad idea.
So what are our ambitions this season? Honestly, we're not
spending much time looking at league tables right now.
Our focus is on building something that can last. Developing
young talent. Creating new partnerships. Finding the next
chapter of what Sarnians football looks like. If we do that
well, then the results will take care of themselves.
Of course, we're competitors too. Nobody walks into Dead Man's
Alley wearing a Sarnians badge and thinks, "Let's just see what
happens." We want to win every match we play. We want to make
deep runs in every competition. And if there's silverware
available, we'd be foolish not to have a look at it.
But this team is a work in progress. The exciting thing is that
I'm not entirely sure what its ceiling is yet. Football's a bit
like opening a present. Sometimes you know exactly what's inside
the box. This season feels different. It feels like we're still
unwrapping it. Tonight is the first glimpse. Let's enjoy it.
