EAGLES SECURE THIRD PLACE
Sunset Knights 0-3 Golden Eagles FC
Eagles put the past few weeks behind them as they returned to
their best with a dominant win over Knights. Steve Bowen got
Eagles off to a flyer in the 5th minute with a lovely lob over
Knight's keeper Lev Yashin. Knights were then down to 10 men
after only 9 minutes, following a bad tackle on Diog Guillems
from Tyler Murray. The Portuguese midfielder was clean through
on the keeper and that was reckless from the American, the ref
had no choice but to send him off.
Pavel Chernyshev made it 2-0 in 28th minute with a fine solo run
before smashing the ball home. That is his 23rd of the season
and possibly sees him finish as Division One top scorer. And Kai
Matsumoto added a third in the 51st minute, the Japanese
defender looking more like a winger there.
Diog Guillems thought he had scored a forth in the the 66th
minute, but the ref disallowed it for a hand ball? From certain
angles it may have looked like it with the positioning of his
left hand, but the ball never touched it, the OFMC referees
certainly have had a poor season. Some how things remained at
3-0, but could have easily ended if double figures had it not
been for Lev Yashin.
The win sees Eagles hold onto their 3rd place, making this their
third top four finish in three seasons.
