Acorns vs Flyboys
Relegated Acorns face their first game in the second division
against Flyboys who may be among the promotion contenders this
season. Tough opening start to follow their tough pre season. It
may well be tough describes this season of rebuilding as they
blood many youngsters and look to rebuild for the future!
United 1908 vs Cartagena
Cartagena fans will be optimistic of good things again this
season. The front line has been strengthened, the youthful
backline has benefitted from a season of first team football and
despite losing experienced pros Alvarez and Ienko in midfield,
they have plenty of quality with Shiffo, Kamara and star man
Stroud. The squad will be looking to get to winning ways as they
mount a serious title challenge.
Dusseldorf vs Helsinki
A new look Helsinki squad will be hoping to have a better start
to this season that last time round when they were soundly
beaten in their opening fixture. New signings Jalen Hurts,
Taylor and Shephard are all in line for starting spots as this
mutli tri skilled superstar squad looks to make strides forward
compared to last season's 5th placed finish coupled with the
xbox cup. They conceded 69 goals last season in the league but
scored 93 goals. Perhaps keeping up that prolific scoring and
trimming back the goals conceded will be key to their success?
There are rumours of a planned change in formation and tactics
but in reality in the second half of the season they were
already rotating between 2 or 3 tactical approaches. Dusseldorf
have no clear weakness and plenty of players to damage Helsinki.
For Helsinki their stars haven't really shone in preseason with
Shynkarenko barely playing thanks to a red card and Karrar only
picking up 1 goal in 14 shots. Here is hoping that pre season
form counts for nothing!

Golden Eagles FC vs Sarnians
Reigning champions Eagles host Sarnians on the opening day of
the season in a huge clash of the heavyweights. Sarnians
finished 2nd having being pipped at the post by Eagles in what
had been an enthralling 3 way battle for title with them and
Yakuza.
Eagles have made a few changes from their division one winning
side with the likes of Torcaso, Desábato and Hanna leaving the
champions with Bowen, Fluess, Alvarez and Xavier coming in.
Their pre-season as been a little indifferent with defeats to
Old Peakcocks and Highland Rangers and a win over Yakuza,
although manager Dave Rosewell was trying out some different
things and giving some of the younger talent some game time.
Tarik Törmänen really impressed with 2 assists in pre-season,
while Chernyshev looked sharp , scoring 4 goals including a 9
minute hat trick.
This will be a fascinating game and a really tough one to call.
Good luck to Skitz.

Darlington
vs Yakuza
The long awaited season finally get started and we find
ourselves "ON THE ROAD AGAIN" in a tricky away day to Darlington
and they have always been a tricky away day but we are looking
forward to it, there are not many changes in the pre season and
we are expecting to be challenging late into the season but as
we all know its as easy to lose as it is to win but we will
always try to win.
post note
I was reading and thinking (as i do) ;D, and the thought I had
is that the Eagle manager must think hes an eskimo sitting on a
severe pointy bit of ice in his igloo claiming they are the
heavyweights of the division HAR HAR HAR. What i will say is
that his native indigenous fellow Finns the SAMI must be angry
listening to this eskimo wannabe. Fellow competitors will be
hoping to humble him and drag him back hoome from his self made
igloo ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hartlepool v Dyer Island Penguins
Hartlepool go into today’s game being lead by there assistance
manager as there caretaker manager will be at his home team
Highland Rangers for the first game of the season. White was
present at the last training session and was more than willing
to speak to waiting press. He stated that the team are in a good
place after there preseason matches and a couple of closed door
game’s against Highland. He said that he see promotion as the
main goal for this season and with the group of players he has
at the club this should be able to achieve this.
Asked how is was getting on managing two teams he said that it
is hard work but was enjoying the challenge. It may only be a
short range as manage as if the team can get into the top flight
and White can keep Highland there he will not be able to m,ange
both teams next season and Highland are his home team.

The Old Peacock vs Gyergyoi FC
The first competitive match in history for the The Old Peacock.
All attention is on new boss James Bucknall who has had an
impressive pre season beating Season 5 Division 1 Champions
Golden Eagles,
Helsinki Hellhounds and Flint Tropics. With success on the field
in pre season there has also been successful off the field,
managing to sign some top class talents and have maintained some
of the up and coming talents at the club. The club sits with a
very healthy bank balance which will aid the club into improving
the squad further throughout the season including potential re
development to Elland Road.
James Bucknall comments
"It's a proud moment to be able to lead this fantastic football
club into their first ever game in history. Very pleased of how
we have developed over the course of pre season, bringing in the
players that will suit how we set up for the season and we have
shown some real quality in pre season. However we must not get
ahead of ourselves as the real business start now. We cannot
take Gyergyoi FC for granted, despite their league position
finish last season they have some real quality in that squad so
we will have to be at our best to get the result. The
expectation is champions and anything below that will be
unacceptable. With the quality this squad possess regardless of
bank balance it should already be more than enough to reach our
target"
