The Tampere Talon - Season 6 Pre-season News
By: Dave Rosewell Date: September 15, 2025, 3:18 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Champions at last!
Golden Eagles FC became Division One champions in Season 5 after
a closely fought battle between themselves, Sarnians and Kyushu
Yakuza. And it all came down to the final game of the season on
a dramatic afternoon with their title rivals drawing each other,
Eagles sealed a 4-2 victory over Thames Ironworks. Eagles had
the chance to do the double, but they were thwarted by Rael
Nerrad in the KO Cup final.
"We really felt a sense of vindication after we missed out on
the title the season before. To lose on the final day of the and
slip down to fourth was heartbreaking. While we were sad not to
have been able to claim an unprecedented double, we can be proud
to finally call ourselves Division One Champions. The lads, all
the staff and the fans deserve this monumental achievement!"
Commented a joyous Dave Rosewell during the club's celebration
parade along Hämeenkatu in the centre of Tampere s couple of
weeks ago.

Prittwick joins Rivals
After a stellar season, versatile midfielder Bryan Prittwick has
made the move to Finnish rivals Helsinki Hellhounds. The young
Englishman clocked 14 goals last season and after Eagles turned
down bids for Darío Bourrin and Diog Guillems, they finally
accepted a bid for Prittwick.
Xavier, Eagles' new X-man?
To lure Prittwick away from Eagles, it cost Hellhounds 19 year
old hot-shot Julio Xavier plus £30,000,000. The Mexican spent
much of last season on loan to Division Two's Cartagena
Corsairs where he scored a phenomenal 31 goals in 32 games.
Hanna and Potkozarač out
The signing of Xavier then triggered the sale of forward duo
Davy Hanna and Milos Potkozarač to Cartagena Corsairs.
Hanna had joined Eagles mid-way through season 4 from Artic
Storm and the Englishman scored 20 goals last season. While
Serbian striker Potkozarač has been with the club since day
1 in OFMC, but he has struggled for regular game time these past
2 seasons and will no doubt be hopeful to get more game time at
the Division Two outfield.
Juan and Done
Coming the other way from Corsairs is their Spanish star
midfielder Juan Álvarez who scored 20 goals, as well as making
107 key passes and 11 assists. The 24 year old is a great
replacement for Prittwick and some great dealing by Dave
Rosewell.

From Manse* to the Highlands
A somewhat suprise sale was Domenic Torcaso to Highland Rangers.
The Aussie defender and former Eagles captain has also been with
them since their season 3 introduction. Despite making 7 assits
last season, he often found himself rotated as Taavi Ruusumäki
pushed for a starting place.
Welsh Eagle
He cost Rangers a pretty penny in the shape of pacey Welsh
wing-back Steve Bowen and 40 million big ones! Bowen impressed
Manager Dave Rosewell while he was caretaker there and will give
Eagles even more attacking threat down the wings.
Goalkeeper swap
Another suprise departure was shot-stopped Petter Andrewsen, who
joined from Rael Nerrad in season 4. The Swede is off to Dave
Rosewell's former caretaker team Reykjavik Reapers. And in comes
Ecuadorian keeper Rafeal Alvarado who helped their new manager
climb up to 5th with a stellar second half of the season
performance between the sticks.
Departing Desábato
The long rumoured departure of Argentine defensive midfielder
Rodrigo Desábato has finally happened, as he also joins
Andrewsen at Reapers (along with £20,000,000).
Fleuss flies in
Replacing Desábato is German defensive midfielder Vilo Fluess
who also played under Dave Rosewell and he has been keen in
bringing across to the 23 year old to Eagles for some time.
*Manse is a nickname for Tampere. The word Manse comes from the
name of Manchester, which was once the model for Tampere and is
also called the Manchester of Finland.

Härmäläinen Homecoming
After spending spells at Helsinki Hellhounds and Kyushu Yakuza,
Jussi Härmäläinen has returned to Tampere. He cost Eagles fellow
young Finnish forward Jussi Kokko and 17.5mil who head to Japan.
Extra bods
With the minimum player rule in team rosters increased from 18
to 21 players, the OFMC FA has created a list of cheap fringe
players for teams to purchase in order to boost numbers. And
with Eagles' squad being a couple of players short, they
invested about £25,000,000 on 2 such players - Finnish forward
Markus Venäläinen and Croatian defender Anton "Anti" Novanic.

Just a Minute
The pre-season auction has kicked off and Eagles went all in for
the first round to claim their first choice bid - 10% minutes
for the whole squad that coat an eye watering £169,000,000. In
OFMC, each player is required to play a certain amount of
minutes during the season to make ensure everyone gets a chance
to shine and to stop the big clubs from always fielding their
best side. If players don't make their minutes, there are heavy
penalties involved and even the club can even lose players. So
the 10% minutes will give Eagles a big boost and could also help
their players make up some excess minutes come end of season.
Eagles's 4 other bids were:
2nd choice - Rokvi Jóasson and 3rd choices Adalberto who Eagles
bid £79mil on each. The Icelandic all-round midfielder went to
Syracuse Saints, while the Brazilian attacking midfielder went
to Hartlepool United. While their 4th choice Portuguese
midfielder Marco dos Santos and 5th choice Turkish attacking
midfielder Nuh Peynirçi (who they bid £49mil on each) are both
went un-sold. With round 2 underway (for Division 2 teams only),
will there be anything worth bidding on for Eagles in round 3?

American Takeover
Golden Eagles FC have announced that they will be renewing their
sponsorship with American car giants Chevrolet in a deal worth
£50,000,000 to the club. As well as this deal, Eagles have also
sold a 25% share of the club to the American car giant. This
also includes the remaining of Eagles Park to Chevrolet Stadium.
Some opposition teams have called the club out saying they are
"sell outs". Regardless of the decision, the deal will increase
match day revenue for the OFMC champions, with a slight
reduction in capacity with a new executive suite currently being
built.
No Sleep till Tampere
Having skipped making any bids in the of the 3rd round of the
preseason auction, There was some very late night transfer
activity last week that saw Eagles complete 3 more deals. Here
is a run down of those deals.
Mirza moves on
Young Uzbekistani wing-back Akram Mirza completed a £75,000,000
move to Division Two's Flint Tropics, where their manager
Bridgey is currently re-building the squad in what has already
been a busy week of transfer activity for them.
Argentine Eagle
With the money gained from the Mirza deal, Eagles were able to
snap up 19 year old Argentinian winger Guil Esteboso from
Syracuse Saints (also for £75,000,000).
Avery sails to Spain
James Avery makes the move to Cartagena Corsairs (along with
£25,000,000) as he swaps the long Finnish winters or the long
Spanish summers.
Naslund flies to Finland
The above deal facilitated the signature of long-term target
Asper 'Asp' Naslund from Corsairs. The Swedish defender had been
on Mr Rosewell's radar since his days at Tranmere Titans.

Torr loaned to Thames
The signing of Naslund also signaled the loan departure of
Finnish defender Campari Torr. Although Torr is much liked at
Eagles, the recent changes in squad size and shift in the team's
tactics has meant he could struggle to make his minutes. So
Thames Ironworks have agreed to take him on a season long loan
in exchange for regular game time.
Final Piece of the Puzzle?
The final addition to manager Dave Rosewell's squad is 23 year
old Finnish/Irish (Finnish father/Irish mother) keeper Olli
Halainen. He will provide further backup between the sticks and
boost the team back up to 21 players following Torr's loan move.
New Captain
Golden Eagles FC have announced Vilo Fluess as their new
captain. Manager Dave Rosewell has always had the policy of
naming a new captain every season in order to give different
players a chance and experience in this important roll. Fluess
was previously the captain at Reykjavik Reapers under Mr
Rosewell and the 23 year old German is a solid choice for the
champions. This also frees up former captain Angelo Nazari to
become a really creative driving force in the centre of the
park.
