Sarnians 1 - 3 Helsinki
The Helsinki management team didn't truly believe that Sarnians
would rest their stars for the full 90 mins for the first leg of
a cup semi final, but that is exactly what they did, opening the
door for Helsinki to get their noses in front in this two legged
semi final. Mind you, the game started disastrously as young
Proximo scored inside a minute to put Sarnians ahead. That
proved to be a false dawn for Sarnians as Helsinki quickly found
a foothold in the game and got back on terms in the 4th minute
with Shynkarenko setting up Bok for the equaliser. From that
point Helsinki grew further in confidence and it was no surprise
when young Prochazka set up Karrar to put Helsinki in front with
his 23rd of the season. Despite further chance for both teams
they reached the break at 1 - 2. On 63 minutes there was a
moment of madness as Helsinki subbed goalkeeper Munch on in
defence in a bizarre move. It's understood that 12 was shared
with the 4th official rather than 13 and it was too late to
change it! Somehow though, Helsinki found a third goal through
in form HarrisJones with Bok providing the assist.
So Helsinki go into the second leg with a two goal lead to
protect. That will be made easier if Sarnians continue to rest
their stars and focus on the league but we'll plan for them
going at full strength. Two league games and a cup semi final
before then, so plenty that could still go wrong with injuries
and suspensions.

League Cup Semi-Final First Leg
Sarnians 1 – 3 Helsinki Hellhounds
Venue: Deadman’s Alley
Attendance: 85,000
The final whistle may have confirmed a 3–1 defeat for the
Sarnians, but the story of this semi-final first leg is one of
pride, promise, and potential. With a rotated side full of youth
and second-string talent, Skittles’s men showed heart, hunger,
and no shortage of quality against a full-strength Helsinki
outfit.
The match began in dream fashion. Just seconds in, Proximo
latched onto a clever through ball from Ember_Tuipers and rifled
home a stunning opener. It was a moment that encapsulated the
spirit of this young Sarnians side—fearless, fast, and full of
intent.
But Helsinki, brimming with experience and attacking firepower,
responded quickly. Waratah_Bok equalised with a thunderous
strike before a freak deflection off Raffi_Karrar gave the
visitors the lead. Despite a flurry of Sarnians
chances—including a rocket from B_Tanaka that rattled the
woodwork—the hosts went into the break trailing 2–1.
The second half saw more of the same: Sarnians pressing,
probing, and pushing for an equaliser. Z_Zoffenheim was immense
in goal, making a string of acrobatic saves to keep the tie
alive. But in the 72nd minute, C_HarrisJones struck a third for
Helsinki, giving them a two-goal cushion to take back to the
Arctic.
Yet, despite the scoreline, there was no sense of defeat in the
Sarnians camp. This was a performance that showcased the depth
of the squad and the maturity of its emerging stars. Ezra_James
and E_Staggs were tireless in midfield, Guam_Honest and
Florenco_Isca showed flashes of brilliance, and Proximo led the
line with composure and confidence.
“We’re proud of this group,” said Skittles post-match. “They’ve
carried us to this stage of the competition, and they’ll be
given the chance to finish the job in the second leg. We believe
in them.”
With the return leg looming, the Sarnians know what’s required.
A two-goal swing and the same fearless football that’s brought
them this far.
The tie is far from over and Sarnians are far from done.
