Golden Eagles FC 1-2 Reykjavik Reapers
Thanks to some excellent defending from Reapers and some poor
refereeing decisions, Eagles suffer yet another shock home loss
as thing tighten up at the top of Division One. Eagles were the
better team for large parts of the game, but found it difficult
to get past Enzo Fratelli and co.
The home side thought they had taken the leader through Darío
Bourrin just before the 40 minute mark. His low shot got
deflected on to the bar and bounced down, appearing to go over
the line before Rafael Alvarado smothered it. However, no goal
was given and Eagles manger Dave Rosewell was furious!
Matters weren't helped when at the other end when Ayho Kushimo
scored against the run of play to put a real bitter taste in
Eagles' mouth! Dustan Huevo managed to put a smile back on the
home fans' faces on the stroke of half-time as he met Diog
Guillems' pass and the French defender fancied himself a striker
as shot cannoned in off the underside of the bar. This time the
goal was given, 1-1! Game on!
The second-half turned onto a real scrappy affair, with both
sides having good chances. It was Reapers who struck again
though in the 71st minute, Raczka Popovi's cross was headed home
by Hannes Gunter. Davy Hanna was then bought on in place of
Bryan Prittwick as Eagles looked to find a way back for a second
       time.
Things weren't helped however, as Pavel Chernyshev was shown a
second yellow card for a bad tackle on Valerio Capuzzi. The
Russian was furious at the ref, as tempers reached boiling point
and he had to be escorted off the pitch! With time ticking away,
it looked like Rodrigo Desábato earned his side a penalty after
Enzo Fratelli looked to have brought the Argentine down in the
box! Not given, the ref gave a free kick the other way! The
Eagles players and manager are beside themselves, that could be
a costly mistake come end of season! The home side booed the
referee at the end of the match.
"I am very frustrated, I don't want to take anything away from
Reapers, they played brilliantly and were solid at the back.
However, they were helped by some extremely poor refereeing
today, absolute b*******!" Dave Rosewell's comments could land
him in hot water with the OFMC FA, but he wears his heart on his
       sleeve.
The only positive is that despite the loss, Eagles still remain
top, as Sarnians were held to a 2-2 draw by Acorn Academicals.
Elsewhere Yakuza's victory sees them close the gap to the top to
3 points. It is very much going to be a three hoses race for
these last six games. One thing is for sure, Eagles need to
re-find some the consistency they had between May and July if
they have any hope of the title.

       Dusseldorf 2 - 5 Helsinki
Disastrous!! Not the adjective you expect to hear when a team
wins 5 - 2 away from home, but that was how it felt for Helsinki
on this occasion. There were two missions in this match, win
three points and keep every fit and available for crucial cup
second leg. Oh how the latter failed spectacularly.
Star player Reece Evans was rested on the bench and given 30
mins to keep other defenders fresh too. He got sent off within
TWO minutes of coming off the bench. 1 match suspension and he
misses the game against Arctic - the defence will be severly
       weakened without him.
Then, just three minutes later Maeta pulls up injured and is now
out for the next four games. So both midfield and defence are
weakened... and due to the injury Karrar played a full 90 mins
and is looking a little jaded.
The result was secondary. Karrar, HarrisJones and Shynkarenko
all got on the scoresheet. It was a good all round performance
too with Daaviski getting 4 tackles, Asanovic getting an assist
and all of the main goal threats scoring. The club now has
decisions to make for the cup game whether to try and score more
goals than the oppositon, or to keep it tight and protect the
       narrow lead.
