       Helsinki 2 - 1 Sarnians
Probably the club's best result of the season helps them get off
to a good start in June in what will be a critical month for the
club. It was tight game which could have gone either way.
With the midweek cup game in mind, Helsinki gave youngsters
Daaviski and Asanovic starts as he looked to get Prochazka and
Jemmes fully fit ahead of the cup game. A risk when you're
coming up against the likes of Pavlov, Tanaka and Kiss in the
       opposition ranks.
In truth the best we hoped for was to make the game broadly even
and hope for some luck from there and that is what we got. The
fans waited what seemed like an age for the first goal and it
was Helsinki old boy Tanaka who grabbed it in the 77th minute.
Disaster for the home fans having held Sarnians until that
point. The home side rallied though and substitute Jemmes found
Maeta who slotted home just 5 mins later to get it back to 1 -
       1. Game on. Helsinki now had the bit between their teeth and
surged forward with sub Dubnik missing the target before Evans
lobbed the ball over the top and Shynkarenko burst forward from
midfield finishing accurately off the inside of the post. 2 - 1.
Tanaka had a chance to equalise in injury time but a block and
Hikkara claiming the resulting corner allowed them to see out
       the result.
The result leaves Helsinki in 7th, 1 point off Pompey in 6th and
       4 off Nerrad in 5th.

Golden Eagles FC 4-1 Acorn Academicals
Eagles beat struggling Acron Academicals 4-1 to put themselves
firmly in the driving seat at the top of Division One. Manager
Dave Rosewell again handed starts to James Avery and Campari
Torr (both repaid their manager's faith in them) while players
like Angelo Nazari and Pavel Chernyshev were rested with the KO
Cup Quarter Finals coming up in mid-week.
The home side got off to a great start, James Avery squared a
short pass to Taavi Ruusumäki and the Finn lashed the ball home
in the 4th minute. Then 6 minutes later, Eagles were handed a
penalty after Campari Torr was bought down by Fraser Digby who
somehow remained on the pitch! Regardless Davy Hanna slotted the
spot kick home to give his side a 2-0 lead.
Eagles went 3-0 up shortly before half-time, Torr nutmegged C.
Calderwood as he drove in from the left before slotting the ball
home. Both Finnish wing-backs on fire today! Dan T must have
given his side the hair-dryer treatment as Denis Staples pulled
a goal back for his side just after the break to make it 3-1.
It was a short-lived comeback however, James Avery was again
involved as this time he drove the ball across the face of
Acorns goal in the 65th minute and Portuguese midfielder Diog
Guillems rifled it into the back of the net. Just before that
Campari Torr almost grabbed a 2nd with a cheeky chip, bur was
saved by the keeper. It was a tight run thing between the Finn
and Avery for man of the match, but in the end it went to rhe
       English midfielder.
Eagles are now 3 points clear at the top of the table from
Sarnians who lost away to Hellhounds, and are a further 4 points
clear of Yakuza and Storm. Of course there is still a way to go,
with the likes two of their main rivals to face again.
