Sarnians 3 -0 Kyushu Yakuza
Sarnians win 6-2 on aggregate
Well the rough house tactics of Yakuza back fired, a cynical
body check by Aparichit in the 12th minute resulting in a yellow
card and two minutes later Codi Domino broke through on goal
only for Dagda to take him out with a professional foul, before
he reached the area. But Guam Honest scored a stunning over head
kick from the resulting free kick and the two goal gap on
aggregate put the visitors into panic mode!
Just one minute later Codi Domino took his revenge and added a
second goal and before half time it was 3-0 with Bogdanyovych
getting his second assist of the game on the way to a Man of the
Match award.
It was a reward for a show of faith in a number of the
youngsters who got us into the knockout stages of the
competition to take on the best side in the game and come out on
top in both legs.
On to the next round we go!

Golden Eagles FC 1 - 0 Highland Rangers
Eagles edged Rangers 1-0 in another tight and entertaining game,
seeing go through to the next round with 3-0 aggregate win. Both
halves were action packed, with Eagles having much of the
possession and more shots on target, but Zandor Steele pulled
off 9 saves to keep his side in the game.
However, there was little the English keeper could do to stop
Pavel Chernyshev's 11th minute strike. Angelo Nazari won
possession deep inside Rangers' half before squaring the to the
Russian and he smashed it passed the out stretched keeper, 1-0.
Eagled were lucky not to have Amadeus Rahr sent off a minute
later, the German received a yellow card for a clean tackle
which was quite harsh. However, he was so irate with the ref,
that his team mates had to pull him away and calm down the fired
up defender.
Rangers then suffered another red card in the 27th minute
following two in the previous tie, this time it was Mai N'tonga
was given an early shower. The Fijian defender was shown a
second yellow for a bad tackle on Dustan Huevo, who looked to be
hurt by it, but it seemed that he was able to shake it off and
carry on.
Then just before half time, the French centre-back pulled up
injured and was replaced by Akram Miraz.
The second half was much like the first, but Eagles could not
find another way through, Milos Potkozarač going the
closest for the hosts, but he dragged his shot wide from a super
tight angle after beating the keeper.
After the match, it was reported that the injured Dustan Huevo
would miss at least two matches after picking up a bad knock,
it's a bit of a setback for the Frenchman who had only just
returned from another injury. This will of course open the door
for the likes of Campari Torr and Akram Miraz over these next
couple of matches.
"Well, we got the early goal that we needed and managed to
control the game after that. We are keen to see who we'll face
in the quarter finals." Said manager Dave Rosewell.

Helsinki 2 (5) - 3 (3) Tranmere
Not the result Helsinki hoped for on the night, but the result
they needed to progress to the next round and we eagerly await
the quarter final draw. A familiar theme for the home fans as
they saw their side dominate, have the lions share of chances,
out shooting their opponents 32 to 15, with 14 to 8 on target
and still lost 3 goals to 2. Their performance wasn't helped by
Maeta's red card but their were some bright sparks with young
HarrisJones scoring and new signing Dougan getting on the
scoresheet in another good performance for the new signing.
Reece Evans also moved to 18tk which will help the side in the
week's that come - just the third outfield player for Helsinki
to hit that mark. 16 year old Asanovic in midfield also notched
7 key passes, fantasitc work from the youngster who is growing
each week. Five goals across the two games isn't bad, but Karrar
has gone cold again with no goals from 5 shots in this game as
he remains stuck on 19 goals for the season and he's now looking
a little jaded too.
Dussledorf 3 (6) - 2 (3) Cartagena
No fairytale comeback for Cartagena who did well on the night
and competed with their more illustrious opponents. Goals for
Shiffo and Xavier didn't prevent a defeat on the night and the
Cosairs bow out at the last 16 stage, a good cup run though
having done well to escape a group which including Man Utd too.
Back to the league action for them.
