Golden Eagles FC 5 - 0 Puskas Academia
Golden Eagles FC see themselves at the top of Division One for
the first time this season, following a 5-0 drubbing of Puskas
Academia. It was a game that they dominated, blitzing Academia's
goal with 18 shots on target, while the visitors didn't even get
a look in. German defender Amadeus Rahr opening the scoring in
the 21st minute with a goal that any striker would be proud of.
Darío Bourrin made it 2-0 a minute later after Taavi Ruusumäki's
initial pass was intercepted, but the defender's back pass to
Dbuszi was a bit lose and the Frenchman recovered the ball
before rounding the keeper to score.
It was then Milos Potkozarač's turn to get in on the action
with a lovely solo effort, as he scored his 7th of the season a
couple minutes later. Things got even worse of the visitors, as
William Jones was sent off just after half-time for a bad foul
on Potkozarač. Then on the hour mark, Chris Jeffers was
also given his marching orders, following another bad tackle on
Potkozarač! The young Serbian striker running rings round
round them.
Eagles made the two man advantage count in the 67th minute, Diog
Guillems cut in from the left side before smashing home a long
range effort in off the post, 4-0. Finnish defender Campari Torr
then put the cherry on the top in injury time after an error by
KJ Lundrum. Potkozarač was brilliant today, but so was
Guillems, he was the key man in the midfield with 6 key passes
and the goal of the match.
Else where Sarnians were made to work for their 1-0 win over the
ever resilient Thames Ironworks, meaning Eagles are top on goal
difference. The second half of the season is really shaping up
to be a 4 horse race with Eagles, Sarnians, Yakuza and Artic
Storm.
"It a great feeling to be up here, we were 6 points behind at
one point and the boys have worked hard to turn that around.
These next several games are going to be crucial." Commented
Dave Rosewell, who signed an extension to his contract with
Eagles today following his resignation of being caretaker
manager of Reykjavík Reapers.

Artic 2 - 1 Helsinki
More frustration for the Hellhounds as a positive performance
yields "nul points" for the team. Artic successfully picked up
three points, maintaining the pressure on the top three and
ensuring Helsinki are destined for a mid table mediocre finish
this season thanks, once again, to their ineptitude in front of
goal. This week's game saw Helsinki out shoot their opponents 31
shots to 19, and even 20 to 11 on target. Artic did the damage
all before half time with two goals in 10 minutes. To make
matters worse, the frustrated team picked up two reds and Evans
and Jemmes will now miss the next round against the Eagles.
Ouch.
Karrar and Evans both had six attempts and scored no goals. The
defence had 12 shots in total and that was part of the reason
for the failure. Trying to take positives from the game, young
Daaviski picked up 5 tackles as he continues to grow, and
Asanovic got 3 key passes. But that is about it in terms of the
positives.
The result leave Helsinki in 7th, 10 points off Artic in 4th and
4 points off Pompey and Nerrad in the two places above them. Not
out of reach just yet to climb the table, but the clubs below

Cartagena 5 -3 Coventry
A truly entertaining game for Cartagena who put recent mid
season woes behind them and got their league campaign going back
in the right direction. 45 shots to 22 means the scoreline
didn't flatter the hosts. The opening 15mins saw Cartagena take
a 2 - 0 lead followed by being pegged by to 2 - 2. Schiffo
wanted to have his say though, grabbing a captain's double to
put the team 4 - 2 up into half time. Huwe got the fifth
straight after the break and the points were safe despite a late
consolation for Coventry. Alvarez and Kamara were also key in
this one, grabbing assists and Alvarez got a goal too. Great
performance and one to give them hope for the week's ahead.

Sarnians 1-0 Thames Ironworks
A hard game in the bright North Devon sunshine, and the heat
clearly effected both sides. Codi Domino was at the centre of
all our early pressure which led to a 29th minute opener for
Roger Davies, the Welsh defender clattering a header in off the
post.
We dominated much of the second half, but couldn’t find a way
through and the last 20 minutes was played out without any
significant excitement.
Much was made post match of Dave Rosewell celebrating Eagles
going top of the table, Skittles was relaxed saying he was more
focused on managing his own players and winning his own matches
and would come back to look at the table in 10 games time when
things hit the business end of the season.
There was also a derisory offer made by an named club for Codi
Domino, Skittles let his 17 year old Jamaican starlet answer the
question for himself and with a big grin he said “This is my
home now, and it will always be my home”
A midweek rest is in store without a cup tie which is welcomed
after a number of weeks of playing on 3 fronts.
