       Tranmere 0 - 3 Helsinki
The hellhounds will be delighted with the result and got the rub
of the green in a tight but entertaining contest. The team's set
up in a similar shape and tactics but it was Helsinki who found
the breakthrough via Shynkarenko who was played in by
HarrisJones - his third assist in the past two games! Hikkara
kept Tranmere at bay with 13 saves and none conceded until Bok
made it 2 - 0 shortly after half time. A third goal of the game
and Karrar's 19th of the season made the game abd potentially
the tie safe. 3 - 0 and a home tie to come. Helsinki know they
are firm favourites to make it to the quarter finals. Job half
       done.
       Cartagena 1 - 3 Dusseldorf
This game felt very similar to the Helsinki match. Both teams
set up in a similar way and it was a relatively even match. But
the extra quality of the Dusseldorf goalkeeper and attackers
made all the difference. After Dusseldorf took an early lead,
Naslund did find a way back into the game for Cartagena. But
Dusseldorf eased away in the second half and know the second leg
will be a tall tall order to progress to the quarters. Their cup
       run might just be over.

Highland Rangers 0 - 2 Golden Eagles FC
Eagles take a good 2-0 lead going into the second leg in a
couple of weeks time. However, they were made to work for it by
9 man Rangers after 2 of their start players - Bogdan
Novovolynsk and Sander Rubios were both sent off in the opening
11 minutes. Novovolynsk's red may have been warranted, taking
down Davy Hanna when being the last man, but the one for Rubios
was a bit harsh. Especially as Diog Guillems was only shown a
yellow card for a bad tackle himself barely a minute later.
On paper Eagles looked favourites for the tie, but the current
division two leaders (whom Dave Rosewell was caretaker during
the first half of the season) also have a very solid squad.
Regardless, Eagles really should have capitalised more on the
two man advantage, but not for the first time this season, they
were a little wasteful in front of goal. Only managing 7 shots
on target from 22, with Zandor Steele making 5 saves and it took
Eagles until the 59th minute when Pavel Chernyshev put his side
ahead from Domenic Torcaso's cross. Substitute James Avery then
took advantage of a mistake by Diode Navrick in the 72nd minute
to make it 2-0 to the visitors.
"We played well, but we were a bit wasteful and didn't press
home our advantage enough. I happy with the two goal cushion
going into the home leg, but we could have done better. Still,
well done to Rangers, their remaining players showed a lot of
fighting spirit today." Said Dave Rosewell after the match.
