       Helsinki 2 - 1 Sarnians (AET)
The world of OFMC is thanking Helsinki's Heroic players today as
the club valiantly fought their way to victory against the
league's best side. Not only do all remaining clubs in the
competition now stand a slightly better chance of lifting the
trophy with Sarnians out of the competition, but having faced
extra time too, both the Helsinki and Sarnians squad are
exhausted from their endeavours and significantly weakened ahead
of the next round of league matches with Puskas and Kyushu set
to benefit. In terms of the game, the irresistible Lazlo Kiss, a
former Hellhound, got Sarnians off to the best possible start.
Helsinki then spent the game huffing and puffing, eventually
finding a second half equaliser from Karrar and then Bok won it
in extra time. Had it not been for Zoffenheim in the Sarnians
goal it could have been a much more comfortable victory but
Helsinki will happily take being in the next round.
       Cartagena 6 - 2 Delhi
Cartagena were on fire in front of goal in this one. Yes, they
had more shots and the better of the game, but the opposition
goalie had an off day and that was in truth the key difference.
On loan forward Xavier continued his fine run of form with a
fine hat trick and the front pairing scored 5 of the 6 shots
they took! A great day at the office for them and they look
forward to potential glamour ties in the quarter final. They
will be hoping that they can bring them back to Carthage Hill
and give themselves a shot of the semi finals!

Syracuse Saints 0 - 2 Golden Eagles FC
Eagles advance to the next round of the EA Knockout cup with a
strong 2-0 win over the division two promotion hopefuls. The
score line could have looked a lot worse for saints if it wasn't
for the experienced Simon Comley between the sticks and a
disallowed goal. Davy Hanna got Eagles off the mark 10 minutes
in from Taavi Ruusumäki's slick pass and the Englishman scored
with a classy finish, 1-0 tot he visitors.
It was pretty much all Eagles during the rest of the first half,
but somehow Comley and co. managed to hold them off. However,
that soon changed just after halftime as Darío Bourrin's cross
was headed in by Ruusumäki. A well deserved goal for the Finnish
wing-back who has been in fine form, 2-0. Then the game took an
ugly turn as Saints' winger Guil Esteboso was sent off for Davy
Hanna in an off the ball incident.
Eagles looked to press the man advantage and Pavel Chernyshev
thought he had grabbed his side a third goal on the 65 minute
mark, but it was ruled out! Then Eagles were also reduced to 10
men, with Amadeus Rahr getting his marching orders after hacking
down Craig Cluster. The German defender was the last man and
just didn't have the legs to match the young Scot.
Ruusumäki almost turned provider again in the closing stages,
his cross was headed goalwards by fellow Finn Jussi Kokko, but
his effort struck the ball and went over! The game finished 2-0
and although Eagles dominated much of the game, Saints really
made them work for it. After the game, not only did Taavi
Ruusumäki pick up the man of the match award, but he also picked
up Eagles' player of the month award.
There could be some tasty ties in the next round, with the likes
of Nerrad and Yakuza still in it, as well as Dave Rosewell's old
       team Hellhounds.
