The Tampere Talon - Season 5 preview - Eagles time to shine?

Season 4 Heartbreak
Having had the first division title in their grasp, Golden
Eagles FC were left heartbroken on the final day of season 4
after suffering defeat at the hands of Manchester United. That,
mixed with the other results saw Eagles finish in fourth place.
It was still a very good showing from them however, having been
freshly promoted as division 2 champions in season 3.
Pavel Chernyshev finished 3rd in the top scorers table with 27
goals, with Davy Hanna no far behind him. In midfield, Angelo
Nazari finished as the top assister with 12 and Diog Guillems
finished 3rd with 11 assists. While Nazari and captain Darío
Bourrin both made 86 key passes apiece. Bourrin also scored 14
goals from midfield, with Guillems grabbing 13. However, Eagles
weren't only strong in attacking prowess, but they were also
stoic in defence with Domenic Torcaso and Kai Matsumoto making
over 50 key tackles each, backed up by late signing Dustan
Huevo.
Season 5 Preview
Eagles now go into season 5 as one of the favourites to wrestle
the division 1 title from Darlington All Stars and they
certainly have the squad to do it on paper judging by last
season’s player stats.
Of course, to boost their chances, manager Dave Rosewell has
made a couple of changes to the squad, the biggest and most
surprising change was the sale of former captain Artem Poltorak.
Poltorak struggled last season with injury and was linked with a
move to Tranmere Titans before being ruled out for several weeks
with a leg injury. Ironically enough, Titans is where he was
sold to in an exchange for German Amadeus Rahr (the deal also
saw £30,000,000 going to the newly promoted team).
Eagles also signed Campari Torr from Titans, who one of the best
defenders in division 2 last season. While Georgian defender
Ioane Gordeli and £5,000,000 went the other way. Two players
were also let go on the ATM: Paco Chia who struggled for minutes
last season and 3rd choice keeper Raúl Gustavo Gilmár.
It looks as though two young Finnish scout prospects with be
joining the club as well, 16-year-old striker Jussi Kokko should
be confirmed in the next day or so. While 17-year-old defensive
midfielder Tarik Törmänen should be joining after the Wildlife
Trust Trophy. Both are hot tips, as Dave Rosewell is keen to get
in some fresh home-grown talent.
Meanwhile Eagles will keep Chevrolet as their shirt sponsors for
a third season in a row and it looks like Darío Bourrin will be
keeping his armband. The young Frenchman had a brilliant season
and easily switched from a central midfield position to a more
attacking position when needed.
“Our target of course is the division one title, but we also
want to do even better in the cups this season too. The lads
have been training hard before the Wildlife Trust Trophy and we
are keen to hit the grown running.” Said Dave Rosewell at a
press conference.
